Kudos to Cam, but Marques made the last play happen

Marques set two screens on the last play. First he screened RJ’s man and then after Jack screened Cam’s man, who followed a Jack to the hoop, Marques screened Jack’s man who was trying to stay with Cam. Without those screens happening, Cam doesn’t get the chance to knock down the wide shot and be the hero. Quite often fans get caught up in the moment and don’t notice the “dirty work” that allows a teammate to be successful.

If we are giving out credit, how about Coach K for drawing up that play? Based on the hot mics in the huddle and player interviews after they all knew who was going to take that shot. FSU wanted to protect against 2 things, RJ and the lob in the middle. Problem is we have a pretty good third option too. But that play was the perfect play for that situation, executed masterfully by all.

And I'll give a strong nod to Tre for faking an initial pass which threw off the guy guarding the in-bounds. He bit on the fake and that gave Tre a clear line of sight to put the pass on the money.

True teamwork gents... one of the many reasons we're #1.
Totally agree. Most people don't realize how hard it is to make that pass with a man 3 feet from you and having the patience to wait and let it all set up.

Let alone when that guy is seemingly eight feet tall who is guarding you on the inbounds.

The play was a perfect call and required perfect execution. Duke pulled it off making it look easy.

For that to happen, everyone needed to do their damn job. And they did.

Can we leave it at that?

I agree with most in this thread. Several things factored into that final play ending the way that it did. From the inbounds pass to the screens to Cam making the shot. If those other things don’t happen then Cam probably doesn’t get a chance to make the wide open 3. There’s always multiple parts to a successful play whether it’s at the start of the game, in the middle of the play or at the end of the play.
