Jai leaving after unc

The Boozer twins, Evans, Proctor, Brown, & Ngongba are the key pieces we need to bring back next year. And Ament too if he commits to us.
No offense to the others, but a veteran in the transfer portal would probably make us better than any of the other possible incoming guys could for next year.

Would love to have Darren Harris back too. But he was brought in as an elite shooter, and he isn't making shots. The era we now live in is produce or be replaced, he needs to be a knockdown 3 point shooter.

Harris seems to be hesitant on shooting. Whether that's confidence or he's afraid to miss and get taken out, similar to other players we've had in the past. Whereas Evans let's it fly and doesn't seem scared to shoot at all.

I think Ament is waiting on Evans. As for the Boozer twins I highly doubt they flip.
Agree on Harris. I like Evans, but I'm not sure I've seen anyone else so eager to shoot. I like his confidence, but sometimes he might be better off holstering his pistol.

I'm no insider, and don't know Ament's game, but I'd be surprised if Evans is back next season. Seems like he's trying to shoot his way to the nba.

The staff has been telling Evans to shoot every chance he can . That’s why he lets it fly . Now the rest of his game( handles, passing, rebounding, dribble drive and defense ) still needs work but I think Duke see him return unless he gets a first round guarantee. It’s that or he simply don’t like money because he would make more money in NIL then being a second round pick.

A lot of mocks still have Evans as a 2nd rounder, there just isn't a lot of footage on him other than raining threes. He's long, and he has put on some muscle, he isn't as slim as he was in November, clearly the staff has had him in the weight room. His swagger is unmatched, he's a fan favorite, and it's obvious his teammates love him. When he makes a three, it's more than 3 points, the arena goes bonkers and our whole team gets more energized.

I think the staff will sell him on coming back and being the key offensive piece next year, probably him or Boozer leading our team in shots. And he could ultimately become a lottery pick. It's great to have Ament as a backup plan if Evans bolts though.

It’s being rumored that Jai is bringing in the Boozers high school coach onto his staff and he’s going to target the Boozer twins to flip them to Miami .
Not saying it happens but this isn’t the first article I have read and if mentions for people not to forget Miami was the runner up.
It would suck but I have said all along the timing of the initial report coming out then it being made official now to the UNC game being his last, one has to think there is more to the rumors and no one has countered either article I have read . I assume Nate Amment might add Miami as well now to his remaining schools
I'm not sure what we happen but I wonder how many times hiring someone close to a recruit has worked? I remember recently when Louisville hired Milt Wagner, the grandfather of DJ Wagner and he still selected Kentucky. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to hire an assistance coach that is mainly hired to try and sway a few kids in the near term.

Why? Their games don't seem similar at all to me.
I think it's just a position/opportunity thing. Ament is 6'9 but very skinny, similar build to Evans but taller.
Neither are playing PF as Cam Boozer is the ideal PF in the college game.
I guess Evans could play SG and Ament SF, but not if Proctor comes back.

Ament is a top 5 recruit in the country, he is wanting to start wherever he goes.

One. Last. Time. The boozer twins are not going anywhere. It was also really surprise me if Henderson would too.

My goodness.

Jai was solid piece of the program but folks are overvaluing him. Jon and the Duke brand are far bigger on the recruiting trail than Jai.
He’s not being over valued at all. He was linked to head coaching jobs he just believed in what Jon was doing.

They may or may not . This isn’t the college basketball of five years ago . Money talks and why Cameron is a OAD, Cayden isn’t looked at as one . There is gonna be speculation from every where until it’s official spoke on by players . That’s even what the articles are saying . They aren’t saying it happens but is it possible ? A course it is . They aren’t saying speaking on the right points . Miami is home and they were second runner up. Jai was the lead recruiter( people saying you choose the team for the coach might have been true five years ago but now you go to where they can help build your brand ) .
Let’s not act like for a second that Jai isn’t focused on NIL and he won’t pull a H.Davis he will learn from Jon and bring in a gm. The fact that the Boozers HS coach are being linked to their head recruiter for Duke is enough to cause click bait. Miami also only has four returning players with eligibility left on scholarship .
Yeah they might not be going anywhere but to say it isn’t plausible is crazy given the state of college basketball just like Jai bouncing while he has a chance to list a national championship on his resume .

Clearly the Boozers have to be aware of the speculation about them switching to Miami. Is it expecting too much that they would publicly reaffirm their commitment to Duke? Part of me says “no”, but another part says that they don’t owe us fretting fans any comfort, perhaps they’ve just privately said that to the Duke staff. Which I would certainly expect.

Agree Jeffrey. Here's a bit more intel....

They both can play the 3.
Agree, and still really different 3s who would not be redundant. We play 2 of the same type player all the time, if they’re our best players. We also have a decent track record for getting bench guys drafted.

Anyhoo, that’s my recruiting pitch if you’re his dad. 😂

It also mentions Racheal Baker possibly leaving Duke for Miami with Jai . So why it’s all speculation she was another peace that has made Jon successful at Duke with navigating NIL. It’s all speculation but it also says only time will tell if the Boozers jump ship .

Yeah that article is pure garbage. I will say this if Lucas does take any of the recruits or Baker he is dead to the Duke program. It’s one thing to leave the team high and dry on a championship run which is pure BS but to rob his so called friend would be the end of any relationship between Lucas and Duke. Hopefully Jai is smarter than this.

Take this from a wise old man guys: I watched John Lucas play in the 70s(Both tennis and hoops). He was an absolute RELENTLESS COMPETITOR.

Jai is already putting Duke in a bad situation, per distraction mode. IMHO, he has an obligation to this team the rest of the year(say what you will about timing of portal, etc). He may take one, two or there could be more of Duke players, staff, etc. Jai is just as much the "RELENTLESS COMPETITOR" John was, perhaps more so. I really feel he's already burned one bridge, nothing to stop him from burning more.

Things got so bad post game in Miami, after Jon's presser. Duke coaches, staff had to tell the players to not discuss Jai's departure. Hungry journalists wanted all scoop they could muster.

bleed I certainly hope you are on point!! Let me ask you this: What about Henderson, Foster, Harris??

OFC
Not bleed but I actually haven’t heard anything on Henderson . Foster, a course there are rumors of him transferring and Harris IF he was to leave I could see him ending up at one of the Virginia schools .

My only point with all this, if you read the article Jai contacted Miami, Miami did not contact Jai. Jai also had already laid out a plan for their NIL while sitting on the bench for Duke . So why it’s all speculation just about every article I have read has about the same info as the one posted here. It would be dumb to think that at least the Boozers head coach isn’t in there ear .

So their high school coach that couldn’t get them to Miami in the first place has more sway potentially then all of Duke, their father and mother?

He’s also joining Jai’s staff. Read the article posted here and the three on sporting news. Jai actually contacted their coach to join him at Miami . The mother was for Miami but left it in their hands to choose . From all understanding Carlos stayed out of their recruitment to colleges .
My point will continue to be , if you don’t think it’s impossible then you don’t follow sports . Yes it more unlikely it happens as Jai builds his own program at Miami and Jon and Duke are already established. However the flip side to all speculation circulating is what better of a splash your first season then to Flip the Boozers .

I vaguely remember when Capel left Duke for Pitt. Comments ranged from "there goes our recruiting", "we are in trouble", to "woe is me and Duke". As things trurned out, of course, our dynamic, bright, young, and energetic head coach knew exactly what he was doing, and came up with an even better recruiter. Two will get you twenty that that is exactly what will happen this time. I ain't worried one bit.👍;)
