I can’t quite figure it out. I don’t think he’s played quite as strong or confident in recent weeks but to not be able to get virtually any minutes is a red flag.Maybe this was discussed...but why didn't he play?
He played 1 min...please...He did play last night, just poorly and not for very long.
lolThese media guys suck. They act like they’re scared of K. He gives a lot of bs answers and they never have follow up questions for him. Jack hasn’t played bad. Since Moore moved into the starting lineup we just stop playing him out the blue. He wasn’t shooting bad or anything. K took his confidence and put him on the bench
Exactly. I just don’t get it. The bench is about to start getting short very soon hereI don't get why K is super patient with some guys and keeps playing them, and is not patient with others and yanks them the minute they miss a shot or two. No way to build confidence that way, imo.
White is in the latter category. When he was getting minutes, he was not playing that poorly. Didn't have a good offensive game against L'Ville. It's classic impatience - almost as if one or two not great shooting games and he's on the bench. I think his hustle on D is great and I think he just needs to be given confidence from the coach to keep playing D and let a shot come his way. Here's his stats since the 1st Wake game. They weren't bad until his minutes came down. Seems like since BC he's been ostensibly relegated:

I'm not going to buy into his offense or defense. Last year, Jack played well with Zion and RJ. What has taken place in February is probably an in - house decision. It will come out later, but Coach K has that on lock for the moment.
Oh how I wish I could be a fly in the Duke locker room, during team meetings, in practices ans on the Duke bench and team huddles so I would know everything that goes on. Would I post it on this board? No way. What would we do if we knew everything that went on. Some of us would not even post anymore because it would take away our speculation. OFC

Exactly. Jack was just a pawn. All along the plan was probably to go small with Wendell at the 4.I think Jack could play more minutes too.
That said, it’s pretty clear what’s going on here. Wendell returned and K went smaller. His two primary bigs have been Vernon and Javin. He’s elected to roll with Matthew over Jack. I’m not saying I agree one way or the other, but it’s somewhat plain to see.
Personally, I think the continued development of Wendell and Matthew is more important for long term success, but at the same time I’m not saying abandoning Jack is the answer.

I think it’s disingenuous to call Jack a pawn. If Jack showed the kind of consistency he did early last season, he’d be playing regular minutes. So while the plan to go small wasn’t thought up over night, I also think most of us feel Wendell and Matthew make us better long term.
He definitely was a pawn. We used him early until we could work in the small lineup. It’s cool. But right now he needs to be getting minutes. Tre and Vernon occasionally need to be the only people playing over 30 minutes consistentlyI think it’s disingenuous to call Jack a pawn. Does wendell moore show consistency ?
It's crazy to think but Jack White was the best player on the floor the last 5 minutes of the game against Kansas.
