K was in his bag on that play. A well drawn up and well executed play!
Will never forget this moment!!!
As good as those were, him laying down on the team less than 1 hour before playing VT in the tournament outweighs the good, imo.My memories of Cam are of him hitting that shot and...him hitting that shot. Seriously happy birthday.
Yeah we won that game, but Coach K was livid with him and his “camp.” If I remember correctly, the “injury” of his occurred in the 1st tar hole game. It was never an issue. We won that game though Mac. I do think he was injured. Cam was never the shooter we needed him to be. Cam was a Banchero level recruit, one of the top players in that class. He was solid, but we needed more that year. I really wanted a second year Cam, but that never happens.
You do realize that Cam has been battling a knee injury since he has been in the NBA, right? He missed 3-4 months last year. He also battled the injury during the 2nd half of his Duke season. If you are hurt, you are hurt, and Cam has clearly been battling this for years. I'm guessing you haven't experienced much knee pain in your life, but it can flare up at anytime, and the pain can be excruciating, can't imagine the pain with limbs as long as Cam's. He never laid down on his team, and he was right back out there 2 days later.Yeah we won that game, but Coach K was livid with him and his “camp.” If I remember correctly, the “injury” of his occurred in the 1st tar hole game. I remember Jay Bilas discussing this very topic, and referencing Coach K being upset at Cam.
I respect you Chris, but what Cam did was wrong. He laid down on his team.
Haha. First off, it was the NCAA tournament game with VT, and he did not play. So its obvious you don’t watch much basketball. How can a guy score 13 points when he never played? You do realize that Cam has been battling a knee injury since he has been in the NBA, right? He missed 3-4 months last year. We aren't even in that VT game without Cam's 13 points in the 2nd round including a 3 pointer with 4 minutes left in the game to give us the lead!
22 pts against UK.
23 @ FSU. 22 @ UL (including all the points down the stretch of the comeback)
23 and 22 against UNC.
Cam never lived up to lofty expectations, but he was still a big game player.
what more could he have done?...he was playing w/ that abdominal injury (tough period, especially a shooter)....avg 14ppg behind 2 23ppg scores...shot 33% from 3...played defense....my only knock was his dribbling TO's, namely chargesWe won that game though Mac. i think he meant Cams 13 points in the game before the VaTECH gameHaha. First off, it was the NCAA tournament game with VT, and he did not play. So its obvious you don’t watch much basketball. How can a guy score 13 points when he never played?
He did lay down on his team. Why? Because of what Jay Bilas said. Bilas, for all the flack he catches from this board, and I’ve given him some myself, is one smart guy. Plus he knows K a little better than any of us.
So for him to say that K was livid with Cam for deciding to not play, that told me all I needed to hear.

Yeah, I stand corrected. Still, I don't get some of the love fest. It's like just because they play for the team we like, they get a pass on criticism. I don't know what's so hard to understand about the Cam not playing incident. Bilas spoke about something he knew first hand. That K was livid with him for choosing to not play in a huge ballgame.i think he meant Cams 13 points in the game before the VaTECH game
I agree wholeheartedly with Mac on this. For Cam to pull that stunt 10 minutes before a SWEET 16 game, I have NO PROBLEM with K being upset.Yeah, I stand corrected. Btw Cam, happy birthday. It could be true but this is a happy birthday thread, so maybe not the time.![]()
As far as New York is concerned, Cam not playing for the Knicks is all due to Coach Thibs. He did not want Reddish at all, even though other Knicks personnel want Reddish’s minutes to increase. I enjoy Thib’s defensive philosophy, but he can be stubborn at times.Cam missed time last season with a separated shoulder. He wasn’t happy with his role at Duke as a third option, he wasn’t happy in Atlanta coming off the bench and now he’s not happy in New York with his time ( See a pattern?).
Cam can be a good player but he has to put the team first . With his defensive skill and he’s only 23 he can have a long career in the league .
Quite honestly, I can understand the coach not being crazy about acquiring him.As far as New York is concerned, Cam not playing for the Knicks is all due to Coach Thibs. This is the one time they should of listened to Thibs. I thought for sure Charlotte would go after him simply for his shooting and age . Looks like he might be headed to the Lakers now .As far as New York is concerned, Cam not playing for the Knicks is all due to Coach Thibs.
