" I can see clearly now the rain has gone. I can see all obstacles in my way. Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind. It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day." ...... Johnny Nash

Today I had surgery on my my second cataract removal. While they were at it they inserted implants in both eyes. I've worn corrective lens since I was 8 or 9 years old . I was very near sighted With the implants I can't remember seeing as well as I do today. It's wonderful and I am grateful. OFC

Congrats on the new peepers Sky. With this and the enlargement you were recently asking about are you planning on viewing something bigger?:D

Very happy for your Sky! I had to wear glasses starting in second grade. Been wearing contacts since ninth grade. Would love to be free of corrective lenses soon. Seriously contemplating lasik.

Which reminds me. Last week I turned 65 and was standing in front of the full length mirror. I told myself that I didn't look too bad for a 65 year old man but then I looked down a little further and saw my old friend but I had to tell him that if he would have lived that he would be 65 today also.:(

Mark theres a group somewhere that advertises Lasik for 300.00 per eye. Do you know anything about that?
Never heard of it. Cost hasn't really been the deterrent (contacts and glasses cost a lot as it is). Mainly concerned about the long term effects considering it hasn't really been around long enough to see if there are increased risks and/or side effects down the road. That said, I'll probably look into this more in the near future.

Great news Sky! I go in for cataract surgery in a couple of weeks. I was on an extended treatment of predisone (steriod). One of the potential side effects is cataract. Cannot wait to have it done. Really, really dislike it. How has the recovery been?

It's went very well. Expect a little blurred vision the first day but it clears up pretty quickly but they dilate your eyes and that's the main reason for the blurred vision. I had my second eye done yesterday and every thing is pretty clear now. Watching the W.s. and every thing is so vivid. In spite of the blurred vision you will notice the enhanced colors right almost right away. The eye drops are a hassle as you start them about 3 days before the surgery and stay with them for several weeks. There are 3 types and I have to us one of them for 4 weeks after surgery. They are expensive even with insurance but lucky for me they gave me samples and discount coupons. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Believe me you will see a different world. Where are you from. If you are in the Greensboro, N.C. area we may have the same surgeon. OFC

Thanks Sky! Will do. I am in Austin, so No to the same docs. It is funny -- I was at the Duke Eye Center for 5 years and got to see a lot of people's lives change for the better through relative simple, quick surgery -- now I am on the receiving end.

The three hundred dollar LASIK is a scam. They only do that if there is only a slight correction needed. My wife and kids just had LASIK and paid about three thousand per procedure. The average cost nationally is about what we paid
