Wow, I knew Lively's scoring wasn't why he was the difference maker tonight, but I'm rewatching it and his first points came w/ like 8 minutes left in the game!

No blasphemy to all-time, low-scoring-yet-legendary performances... but I'm not sure I remember a similar statline since Wojo's 1-point Sr Day game.

My dad used to make fun of Wojo. Said he rolled around on the floor like his junior high gym classes lol.

Lively may be like a Dennis Rodman in the NBA
May not be the same level or style but I get the comp. Not a scorer or big offensive game but has the athleticism to impact the game on defense and the boards.

His game last night reminded of how Zoubek played down the stretch in 2010. He stopped trying to be a scorer and just played D and rebounded. If Lively could just focus on those two things, defense and rebounding (offensive and defensive boards) this team can make a run. Hard for a freshman to have that kind of discipline - Z didn’t figure that out until about midway through his Sr year. But that’s where he will earn his money. And would make us a much better team.

Zoubs had a series of injuries that hurt his development. He didn't lack discipline. 2010 was a really veteran team, too.

Do you mean, like, figuring out his role? Yeah, unless you get handed the keys everybody has to figure out their role, and it might take freshmen a little longer.

The issue with Zoubek, along with injures, was conditioning. I remember his junior year, he would play very well the first 2-3 minutes he was in and then disappear. He just didn't have the stamina until his senior year.

A lot of big men have that adjustment. Injuries are what pushed that back for Zoub. He was nowhere near as highly ranked coming in as Lively, either. Lively's growth curve and ceiling project way faster and higher.

My dad the former coach was very impressed with Lively, Flip and Roach. If Lively keeps this up we may go places. Roach really was in attack mode, but still under control. Proctor had a very good game. Grandison made some key plays.
