Ran into a UK fan the other night. I had on a Duke cap and he looked and said that I should be wearing a real cap that said UK on it. I ceased the moment and told him the only time I would ever pull for UK was when they played UNC. I must have caught him off guard because after the moment of shock he smiled and said something about how bad the situation is in Chapel Hill and started defending Cal. and UK. He went off about HOF Coach Roy Williams and how could they get away with it for so long to which I assured him that I agreed with. We both agreed that nothing more than a fine or probation would be given out and not another word was said about the Duke or UK program. He was a pretty nice guy but really didn't have much a lg to stand on in discussing the programs. Still wish I had a pic of the look on his face when I told him the only time I pulled for UK was when they were playing the Heels. Do any of you have stories similar with other fans excluding encounters with Tar Heel fans which we all have had. OFC

My moms entire family is UK fans so I have many encounters. I try to not say too much to em but one of the funniest was from just listening at a family reunion in September 2011 and they were preseason 1 and they were all saying they shouldn't be because they were freshman but it was one of those "we shouldn't be but we all know we are the best" things like to cover up in case they didn't win it all which they did

I would of asked why he wasn't wearing a 40-0 tshirt as they are pretty inexpensive now.

My encounters have been online for the most part. KY fans were really annoying for a while after they hired Cal, but Duke's 2 NCs in that time frame have mellowed them whenever they interact with Duke fans. When they mention LeHigh or Mercer, I just mention Robert Morris and the NIT and they STFU pretty quick.

A few years back I ran into some arrogant, drunk KY fans at the Champions Classic, but no more than the average fan base has at a sporting event.

Goodness how i would literally pay to have seen his face Skysdad I live in Shelbyville Ky which is 45 minutes west of Lexington and 20 minutes east of Louisville. Things used to just be really bad with UK fans but over the past five or so years (yes even before their most recent title ) the UofL fans are doing their absolute darnedest to be just as obnoxious as UK fans. Becomes absolutely maddening at times... But with each and every encounter my pride in being a Duke fan grows even more.

My experience goes like this: A few weeks after the 92 championship I'm at a local service station getting gas. A little red sports car pulls up to a gas pump behind me. A well dressed young black man gets out and walks over to me. He said "I see where your alma mater got lucky against my school a few weeks back" (I had a Duke sticker on my car window). I paused a second and said "I don't know that you can call it lucky. I mean its not like he hadn't done it before(Laettner shot to beat UConn 90). There was stunned silence from him for short while. Then it dawned on him that I had just shot his lucky comment to hell. He then said, "you're right." He then turned around, went back to his car and started pumping gas. End of conversation.

During the summer between my Sophomore and Junior year at Duke (2004), I was back home and running late for an appointment at my dentist. I was going about 15mph over the speed limit. All of a sudden, a motorcycle cop came out of nowhere and pulled me over. At that time, I had a giant Duke bumpersticker on the back of my Jeep. The cop walks up to my window, and just before I start to try and sweet talk him into letting me go, he drops the hammer, "First of all, I'm a Kentucky fan." My heart immediately sank, and I started to realize that I was going to get a ticket in addition to missing my appointment. The cop then asked me if I went to Duke. I told him I did. He smiled and said, "Aren't you Duke boys supposed to be smarter than that?" I started to apologize and explain why I was in a hurry, and he smiled at me and said, "We still owe you guys for Laettner." He then told me to slow down and let me off with a warning before wishing Duke luck the upcoming season. To this day, one of the most astonishing encounters I've ever had with a Kentucky fan.

I actually was in Shelbyville in April during a cross-country trip. Wanted to complete my itinerary, so I did not wear any Duke gear until i was safely out of the state!!
