Duke vs. V.T. this Sat. football

Certainly looking for, as always a Duke victory Saturday vs VT. With the game at VT its likely going to be a battle. Sky did you get the money to the football refs?

Loving this football success! Keep it going, boys!

Been a football fan before the Cutcliff days. These seasons have been exciting for sure. It's great to see 4 and 3 star recruits coming in when we were lucky to have a 2 star guy.

I thought you were going to take care of this one OFC

Huge game for Duke, with this game having big implications on the rest of the season. Vegas has VaTech as 3.5 point favorite and Duke is ranked, so this should be a really tough game for the boys from Durham. Hope we can come out on top!

Just so you guys that don't follow Duke football. 45-43 in 4 OT's. 6-1 on the year. 3-0 in conference play. GO DUKE FOOTBALL. DUKE BASKETBALL IS COMING SOON. ITS GREAT TO BE A DUKE FAN. OFC

Woot woot!!! I've been taking engagement pics all day but kept checking ESPN and I'm pumped! Go Duke!

That was a 4 heart attack game. The emergency rooms are full tonight. Good win for Duke!

OFC

What an answer to giving up the TD is fourth OT. Sirk with a perfect pass for the TD and a great run from Sirk for the two point conversion and a road win. I do love having coach Cutcliff at the helm. This football program is fun to follow.

Don't watch a heck of a lot of them but did today. Man what a fun team to watch.

DVRed the game. Recorded the next 1/2 hr slot as well...just to make sure I'd catch it all. Second recording ended just after Martin kicked the field goal in the 1st OT! Don't know whether I should be angry or happy.

So what do y'all predict? Do we drop an ACC game or do we win the coastal undefeated??

It won't be easy but I think we could...we have 2 tough games against UNC and Pitt...they're the only 2 teams that we play that have winning records out of the remaining teams on our schedule.

We also have Miami at home this week who just got their rear ends busted by Clemson and will be a challenge. Every game we have left will be the biggest game we have this year. One game at a time. OFC.

Yeah Miami is not going to be easy. They whooped us last year. Maybe they have mailed it in to try and get Golden out of there.

If they play like they are capable of playing they can beat all of those teams. What I have noticed about this team is they seem to get complacent and want to sit on a lead. Yesterday was a good example, in the second half my wife started to know what they were going to do. Two runs and a bad pass. In the OT's when they had to do it , we saw roll out passes and playing to win again. You can only run the qb so many times. I think the defense also got winded from being on the field so much in the 4th qtr. Just hope if they drop a game , it won't be to the tarholes.

Agreed. Next 3 will be very challenging. I think Miami's athleticism makes them a difficult matchup for us, and UNC & Pitt are arguably as good or better than any team we've beaten this season. It was very important for us to win @ Va Tech b/c I think we're probably going to suffer a loss or two in the next 3. UVA and Wake are really the only games left on our schedule where I think we'll be favored by a reasonably significant margin.

If there is a coach in the nation, anywhere, doing a better job than Cutcliffe I'd love to see them. Saturday's game really showed that, as far as two programs really heading in different directions. I had this conversation with a very good friend who is a VT alum and a lifelong fan. I asked him if four years ago I had told you Duke and VT were about to play, one was ranked and undefeated in conference, while the other was coming in reeling after having lost three of their last four, and desperately needing a big home win over a ranked foe to start to try to right the ship a little and maybe do just enough to get bowl eligible, he would have never said Duke was the first of those teams.

Yep. Cut is a great coach, period, and the very best for Duke.

Agreed, also on which team we'd have thought was in which place several years back. I'll add that if we heard then that Duke even made it to 4OTs vs VT, we'd have been happy w/ that as a morale victory (morals ain't got nothing to do w/ it). While fans need to temper high expectations w/ gratefulness (firing Goldsmith for a 4-7 season looked like a pretty horrible move when we ended up dealing w/ 3 winless seasons and 13 wins total over the next 9 years), it is an immeasurable success that our players have fully bought in to the idea that getting to a 4th OT vs a team as storied as VT isn't good enough.

That was one heck of a pass by Sirk to Schneider on that last touchdown. I hope it gives him some added confidence moving forward.

It will be interesting to see how the firing of Golden impacts Miami in the next game.

Great game, I'll be there this weekend to watch the boys beat the "U" .Coach Cut has done a heck of a job turning around the program. Other teams have to respect DUKE football now.
