Does Carolina pull a Syracuse?

With this year another in a long line of mediocrity, does the administration of the University of North Carolina decide now is the time to place the team on a postseason ban just like Syracuse? Since everyone on THR calls it a "scandal" (notice they always use quotations, because it's not a scandal), they would think it is too harsh to punish the players for something that is not an athletic program scandal. I for one, think UNC should do this because it will give them an excuse for failing in March.

Agreed. Just look at what one of the THR posters wrote in the "Thanks Roy ... but its time to go" thread:

One, the "scandal" has taken its toll and football and basketball recruiting and will continue to do so until the NCAA makes a ruling. The NCAA isn't going to do anything, but they are purposely taking its time to make a decision because it knows it is hurting UNC by being silent.

Takeaways: there is no scandal, the NCAA won't do anything, and the NCAA is just dragging this out because they want to punish UNC without punishing UNC. What?

On a side note, saying it's time for Roy to move on is probably the smartest thing I've read over there in a while. But, I hope that doesn't happen because Coach K absolutely owns that clown.

I agree with you and everyone else...'NEVER, EVER'. All you have to do is just read a little of DevilDJ's thread and you'll come to the conclusion that they will spend a 100 million dollars, if necessary, to protect their 'Carolina Way'. It's really quite funny if you think about it. All they would have to do is say, 'we don't believe we've did anything wrong, but we're going to self impose ourselves with ___ ___ ___", and it would be all over. The NCAA would except any type of trivial self punishment from the Tar Heels and end it right here and now. Then UNC and it's fans could crow that they're as pure as the driven snow, and are only doing this to allow the NCAA to use it's resources to go after the real cheaters. It's the Carolina Way.

There is no way they do what Syracuse has done. The Cuse showed some class there and some intelligence. A self-ban all but eliminates any bans from the NCAA. No way the holes do that. They have no class. Honestly, if they forfeited the 1998-2011 wins and any banners and took a one year post season ban that would be good enough for me.

Very true, that would be below them. OFC
I agree mainly because they feel that the price has already been too much and no one has the nerve to do anything else. I just wish the NCAA would go ahead and publicly let them off the hook because that's what's going to happen. We won't forget and thanks to DevilDJ anyone who lurks here on this board won't forget it either. OFC
