Chris's Coor's and Nathan's Courtside (well TV side) Post Game Observations and Rants/raves.

This Gary stuff is before my time. He is a North Carolina fan who posted here I gather.

Close Chris. gary always has write ups on thr where he blames the officials for UNC’s losses and he also has weird fetishes for former Unc players like Andrew Platek, Joel Berry, and Elliot Cadeau

Okay ladies and gentle men (licks lips like Joker); here is a very special top 10 night. Maybe top 20. I have Coor's Light, Nathan's hot dogs, Funyuns, Reeces Pieces and tomorrow off. Hey man, I can start eating good on Wednesday. I found a youtube game of Duke/Temple from the elite eight in 99. As many of you know, that is my favorite team ever, in any sport. Okay, maybe 77 Yankees; but these guys are close. I don't think I've seen this game since 99. And here weeee go!
1. Al McGuire is calling the game. How cool is that?
2. Elton Brand injured his wrist in the sweet 16 and almost didn't play. Was he injured in the final four?
3. John Chaney; hall of fame coach and Cal ass kicker.
4. Avery with a 3. I love his swagger; he got so many open looks because he was a legit threat to drive it at any time. (He shot 40% from 3.
5. This Temple team is good. Big, deep and athletic. Brand having some early trouble with their height. Paging Mr. Burgess..
6. Temple up 8-5 at the 16 minute mark. We look like we're in trouble!
7. After the commercial Langdon had hit 3 threes and were up 5. **** you youtube haha.
8. Moment of silence for my St. John's Redmen, bounced in the elite eight. That was the Ron Artest team. Lost by 3 to Ohio State.
9. Burgess with the and one. And then a block. Nice to have a top 10 sophomore big man off the bench. Think he should have played more. Apparently so did him and his dad.
10. Temple goes to zone but Langdon and Avery are killing them. duke up 10.
11. Maggette with a sweet drive. McGuire says he will be the greatest player to ever come out of Duke in 3 years. Sniff. Al raving about his quickness and explosiveness.
12. Brand starting to get going. Great as he was he did struggle with height. But he was not a center. How crazy is it to have a frontcourt of Brand, Carrawell and Battier (who was still a role player at this point)
13. WOW. Avery with the dime to Brand, with the two handed dunk and backboard slap. Bad***
14. Some on DBR said this might have been the best college team ever and I might agree. Yes they lost in the finals, so they cannot be. But damn; this team.
15. Brand with another dunk. 41-29. Thank you for playing Temple; you get some lovely parting gifts.
16. OHHHHH Maggette spaghetti with the putback dunk before the half. McGuire is losing his mind. RIP Temple. His head was up near the rim. Al calling him Superman. That is some Zion ****. This dude did not even start.
17. Langdon now 5 for 5 from 3. Battier with the rebound and assist.
18. Nate James in the game. I forgot about him. Think he had an injury redshirt the next year. Not to be nitpicky but we probably could have played James and Domzalski more. 9th and 10th guys. To those who think this year is the deepest team ever; no.
19. Temple pulls within 14 and then Chaney gets a tech and has to be restrained. Control your temper coach.
20. Temple within 10! Mini run! Oh noo Mr Bill! Temple full court press. Avery down, poked in the eye. Uh oh.
21. Langdon drives; gets fouled. Automatic 2 points. 70-54. Langdon 2nd all time Duke Free throw percentage to JJ.
22. Final score 85-62. I honestly think only the 90/91 Duke team would have a prayer of beating this superteam. But alas they did not close the deal, so the 90/91 team gets the edge. But I think in a one game series the 99 team wins. It was a pleasure seeing this team in action again; oh what could have been...

I personally think the 99 Duke team was the greatest college team ever assembled, I don't care that they lost in the championship of a single elimination tournament. They beat anyone in a 7 game series.

The 2002 Duke team was incredible too, but gagged in the Sweet 16. They are the only team ever in the Ken-Pom era to be #1 in both offense and defense. But I think not having Battier around anymore hurt them, he was the ultimate winner.

This is always a fun debate among Duke fans. I think the best of K’s era was the 92 team. Battle tested, and they just refused to lose. They were a rock star group on tour. Never been a guy more clutch than Laettner, a more gritty guard than Hurley, and the ultimate Swiss army guy in Grant.

Possibly the next best team was 86.

That is sad. Is Bryant Gumbel still around? Googled it he is. Guy was everywhere in the 80s/90s.

Bengals win a thriller against the Broncos! They are still alive, although starting out crappy every season is getting old.
