When Okafor was called for his 4th foul, Frank Kaminsky picked up his dribble, spun (step one) took another step and extended his shooting hand out. Okafor was positioned to block it, so Kaminsky took a third step and shot the ball. Could have easily been called a walk instead of a foul on Okafor.
The play where Winslow stepped out of bounds? Someone posted a still shot from the top of the backboard. The Wisconsin defender had his forearm on Winslow and was pushing him with everything he had left in the tank. Refs normally won't call that a foul, but it could easily explain why they didn't call Winslow out of bounds.
Those were just two examples. I feel certain there were dozens more that were either not called or where the call benefitted one or the other team. never in my life have I seen so many fans of the losing team (or Duke haters) whine so incessantly about the officiating. They take their lead from their coach.
I had no problem with either Bo Ryan or Wisconsin prior to his post-game whine session. His antics led me to investigate his historical behavior. What I learned was that Bo makes a habit of behaving boorishly. In 2012, Bo Ryan tried hard to prevent one of his players from transferring to any school in the Big 10 (not uncommon) as well as a bunch of schools that aren't even on Wisconsin's schedule, but might be or will be in a few years. The transfer request for buried in the inbox of an associate athletic director for a bit and it took public pressure for Bo to quit screwing the kid. He can come across as petty, vengeful and quick with excuses. And he seems to pay only lip service to his duty to see that his student-athletes receive an education and graduate. Just take a look at Wisconsin's graduation rate for men's basketball players while he has been in charge.
What's disappointing is that neither Bo Ryan nor Barry Alvarez has taken any steps to apologize or conduct any damage control. By not doing so, they are tacitly or otherwise sending the message that blaming others is the Wisconsin way. I know there are plenty of Wisconsin fans (and Frank Kaminsky) that handled the loss with a lot more class, grace and dignity than the head coach, but their class is being overshadowed by what would have to be considered the official stance on why Wisconsin lost the game.
