Official game day thread- Duke vs INCARNATE WORD

As many have expressed on here already. Really hope the guys such as Evans, Big Pat, Harris, and the rest of the Blue Devils whom don’t see a lot of game action play a lot tonight.

Would love to see Coach Scheyer try out the lineup of

Proctor
James
Flagg
Brown
Maluach

Just to see what it looks like in game action.

Also could be related to NIL. I imagine we can’t give everyone the $ they want. So Duke prioritized proctor, foster, Flagg. And then when it comes to players like Stewart we may have been under what stewart thought he deserved and were giving brown what Stewart thought he deserved

Barring a major injury, I think we can definitely say this is a title contender. Now with that said, due to the randomness of the tournament we could still lose in the Sweet 16. But IMO this team is clearly better than Jon's first 2 teams, and that includes an Elite 8 team.

Our defense is elite, and we could maybe withstand a terrible shooting tournament game where we shoot like 4-25 from three. Obviously hope we never shoot like that in a big game, but our defense is going to keep us in every game.

It remains to be seen if this is a final four team. The reason most people had us ranked 8th is because of the roster turnover. There are just two many unknown variables. Mal improving rapidly is likely a key, and right now we cannot afford a frontcourt injury. I like this team, but it's hard to keep guys when you bring in 5 five stars every year.

All I’m saying is Mitchell did what was asked of him, he was arguably Duke’s most versatile defender (being able to defend 1-4 positions), and he would have been a part of the rotation had he returned.

Some on here were upset 7 months ago when Duke lost 7 players to the transfer portal and were criticizing the Duke coaching staff and clamoring for more continuity with returning players (not wanting to field a new team each season)

Now that it appears Duke’s coaching staff pieced together the right team for this season. Some on here who were not happy about the players Duke lost such as Mitchell, Stewart (“he is going to shine elsewhere just watch,” was one of the things people were saying), and Power, now some of those same fans that were unhappy initially have done a complete 180 on Duke and it’s staff while criticizing some of Duke’s former players they were so upset about losing 7 months ago.

Duke’s Coaching Staff did a fantastic job piecing together this season’s team. I wish the former players well until they play against Duke.

Many were upset with the transfers because they felt some of those guys did not get an opportunity. In the present time, I'm completely fine with the roster. Solid Roster.
