That makes sense, the percentages they mention is returning scoring from the previous season, but I cannot tell if they add Sion, Maliq and Mason as "returning" scoring. It doesn't look like it, so the 19% doesn't give the full picture.

However, if you look at the scoring of Duke's top 8, it's higher than 2015 and 2010. That doesn't even figure the scoring from Ngongba. I still like Duke making a deep run because they finally have some 3 point shooting which has killed Duke in previous years.

Official game day thread Duke vs Mt St Marys round of 64

The Mount is coming off two epic games to win their conference tourney for an NCAA birth and to win their play in game. They looked good on Wednesday. Duke is coming off an ACC regular season and tourney title. All the indicators are that Duke should roll. However, it's still 5 D1 players on 5 D1 players in the NCAA's. I'll take Duke by 20+ after a slow first 10 minutes.

MSM - 60
Duke - 84

I want to revisit this stat. Is this 34% of players or 34% of the scoring? I have not done the match but I would be very shocked if the 2015 Duke team returned 34% of their points per game. That team returned Cook, Sulaimon, Amile, Matt Jones but I don't think the returning players scored 34% of the previous years points.

I only make that point because I feel it's more important to have key players and while Sion, Mason and Maliq didn't play for Duke last year, they have plenty of experience. So, I would be curious what that percentage is if you add the three transfers.

No team has won the national title with less than 34.0% of returning scorers, and we have 19.1%.
