Duke's first game is Thursday against either Louisville, N.C. State or Syracuse. Louisville and N.C. State play at 4:30 today, and the winner plays Syracuse tomorrow at 7.

Greetings all, been a while. 2 years ago I moved down to the taint of Florida, although the entirety of Florida could be considered the taint of the USA. My significant other is in med school and she was doing her clinical rotations down here. But now, she’s matched in a program in NC and I am returning!

Few notes of what I’ve picked up down here. FSU might have the most delusional fanbase in the entire world. Their inflated sense of self worth knows no bounds. If you think they’re bad online, they’re worse in person. And they do not give 2 craps about any sport besides football. Awful people.

UF has the worst most disgusting fanbase in the nation. I wouldn’t wish going to one of their football games as a fan of the away team on my worst enemy. They said vile, abhorrent, despicable things that go well beyond the normal banter. Disgusting is the only way I can describe them.

USF, they’re UF but to a lesser extent. UCF is cool, their fans are generally ok.

Anyway, glad to be coming back, I hate Florida, all of the memes about this god awful state are true, and looking forward to getting out.

After handling them a little over a week ago I expect us to win and we are currently a 9.5 point favorite. I think state could make it more interesting though for longer this time

Programming note while I'm thinking of it: I'll be there with full coverage.

The tiebreakers for Duke to have the No. 1 seed in the ACC tournament are pretty simple. Duke needs to win (duh) to tie UNC at 16-4 in the conference, in which case they'll be co-regular-season champs. Here's where the fun begins ...

If Clemson is the No. 3 or 4 seed, Duke will get the No. 1 seed; if Pitt is the No. 3 or 4 seed, UNC will get the No. 1 seed. It's all one jumbled mess, but it all has to do with who Duke and UNC have lost to, i.e. Duke was 1-0 against Clemson and UNC was 1-1 against them; Duke was 1-1 against Pitt and UNC was 1-0 against them. Where Virginia finishes doesn't really matter because Duke and UNC both went 1-0 against them.

Here are their games on Saturday: Clemson at Wake Forest, 6 p.m. | N.C. State at Pitt, 7:45 p.m.

Figuring out the scenarios for the third- or fourth-place tiebreaker is kind of exhausting ... but for Duke's purposes, you'll want Clemson to win at Wake Forest. I don't think there's a scenario in which Clemson wins and still isn't the 3- or 4-seed.

We have had some struggles at state in the past and this team is pretty well defeated and probably just ready to be done with the year.. however that can be a dangerous team too with nothing to play for. Beating Duke at least lets them…. Storm the court!

Predictions:

- N.C. State has less than 10 turnovers.

- Duke makes fewer than 8 3-pointers, but does a lot of damage inside.

- Duke has to double Burns in the post early.

My daughter as a few know on here plays multiple sports. She started with rec and moved her way into making school teams, playing AAU, on a national travel team for volleyball and just made the varsity softball team. I’m sure like a few on here their kids first love is and was basketball. My daughter loves it. It was her first love. She fell hard and fast. When it came to other sports no matter if she started or played the entire game for another sport, she always came back to the hardwood. Like most hoopers she would bounce the ball around the house all day shooting against the wall or the hoop on her bedroom door. That stopped this year. To say I was devastated is an understatement. I was crushed. I was furious. I have been angry before but this was rage for me. Here is why….her coach.

Her coach is one of these coaches that punishes girls for losing. Locking locker rooms so the girls can’t get their book-bags. He punishes them for correcting him over small things like…the name he calls them. If their name is Allie and he calls them Ellie. He will bench them for entire games just because. The best one is telling girls that if they don’t pay for his private trainer he employees with his side AAU team or they don’t join his AAU team they won’t make the team next year. What have sports turned into??? Schools are more worried about that W than anything else and it’s disgusting.
