We could all see it coming and not to take away from DevilDJ's thread on THE CAROLINA WAY I felt I had to add my 5 cents worth due to inflation. 1st of all the UNC women's basketball program along with all the athletics programs including women's bowling if they have a team I hope they never win in anything. I don't even want them o score but this is down right shameful. For sure there were violations with her program but so were OTHERS. They need a scape goat of a high position. She's not just getting thrown under the bus but she's tied to the railroad track with no Jim Dandy in sight. She has just got over her fight with cancer for goodness sake. I really hope she doesn't take this lying down and hires herself a good attorney not associated with UNC and make some waves. I imagine though that she will leave with a real nice little severance package though. You can sweep it under the rug but it's sill under the rug. The UNC men's football and basketball tams may very well come out of this without any sanctions of punishment at all. If that is the case then the whole world of college athletics just fell a little farther down the ladder of integrity and high standards.. To put it bluntly it's a SHAME. OFC

I agree 100%, Sky. This is disgraceful. Thank goodness I'm not a Heel fan.

Pretty deplorable how they're treating a coaching legend to save the legacy of the coach that started all of this. Just terrible.

Good work dirt but I see you have no along came Jones which in all probability there will be no Jones. OFC

You're right, Sky, there is no 'along came Jones', because no one has the guts to stand up for her over there at that miserable excuse for higher education school.

Oh, and what really pisses me off is this deal about women's basketball losing money has to stop crap. Using that as a partial excuse against Hatchell and women's basketball. Well, NEWSFLASH, all women's basketball teams lose money. It brings in more money than any other women's sport...but it still isn't self-sustaining. Men's basketball and football are the only sports that make any real money (and certainly not all of them).

Baylor is a private university and not subject to Freedom of Information acts. Kentucky does not break down its contributions by sport. For the other programs listed above:

Average revenue: $1,475,197
Average expenses: $3,280,275
Average net revenue: -$2,329,623

That's right...an average of around 2.3 million dollars in the red is the norm.

These figures are from a few years back but it's still pretty much the same. Women's basketball (everywhere) is the top revenue sport for women, but it still is not self-sustaining. Only men's football and basketball make any real money (and not all of them do).
Art Chansky (and others), this scandal isn't about taking care of women's basketball...a program that has always lost money, and will probably always continue to lose money. If anyone believes that they're a fool, or a shill for the UNC men's basketball and football programs. Chansky may qualify for both.
