They skipped past the 2017 team, the only one to win 4 games in a row (at the time).

I remember the 2010 or 11 game when we beat North Carolina by almost 20. That was a good one.

Serious question, has any other team won 4 in a row to win the ACC championship?
I don’t think so, which is why I was shocked that team wasn’t featured.

Edit: I see someone said VA Tech but at the time of the taping of this series, Duke was the only one at that time.

Only VT in 2022 and Duke in 2017 have won the four ACC Tournament games in a row. Speaking of that 2016-2017 team, another Duke squad really derailed with injuries that never found the true version of themselves. The injuries were absurd. That freshman class was Jayson Tatum, Frank Jackson, Harry Giles, Chase Jeter, Marques Bolden, Jack White, Justin Robinson and Javin Delaurier. The vets were Luke Kennard, Grayson Allen, Amile Jefferson, Matt Jones. At one point all the freshmen, the key freshmen were hurt except for Frank Jackson going into the ACC in January and of course they had a number of losses because of it. Then Amile Jefferson got hurt, missed several games, then he came back, and I'll be damn he got hurt in the first game back and missed more games! (Giles though was never going to be the player he had been in high school with all the knee injuries.)

They went 11-7 in the league, (5th) but finally got healthy and went on that run in the ACC Tournament taking out eventual NCAA Champion Chapel Hill College in the semis after being down double digits. And I'll always remember that chapel hill game because my rescue dog died that day and I was a complete mess. My sister and bro-in-law, big dog lovers as well came down to console me and we went out to eat at my favorite Japanese Steakhouse before the game started. ("Kanpai bowl for two" for one (ME) with 5 liquors in it, just what Neue needed in that moment.) My Bro-in-law is a big chapel hill college fan but they were there for me, and he and I have this unwritten rule that we don't talk too much s***. When we got back to the house I was downstairs with my sister and I was showing her the score on my phone, Duke had come back and just took over the game and she was quietly giggling about it with me. I saw it on DVR of course but I just had to get out of the house that evening.

Duke winning the Championship over Notre Dame the next day was a big pick me up for sure. That's what I'll always remember about that weekend. The horrible pain of loss but the wonderful joy that Sport can bring. And that run for Duke was sensational in not just having to play four straight days but they had to beat really good teams along the way. They had to beat a Rick Pitino led Louisville squad that finished in the AP top 10. Chapel hill was a top 10 team, Notre Dame was a top 15 team in the final AP poll. That's three nationally ranked top 15 teams Duke played three days in a row after beating Clemson in the first game. Duke ended up losing in the round of 32 to a very physical South Carolina team. May have been a very different result without the injuries because a better record overall could have led to a different region. You never know, 28-9 an ACC Champions was certainly nothing to sneeze at given all the problems that team had and it sure was fun watching Tatum play when he was at full strength.

Some similarities between 2017 and this year. Hopefully a deeper tournament run. Tenn. could be a tough game. I'm pretty sure we get by ORU.

I always chalked up 2017 to injuries, lack of a true PG, and that transgender bathroom bill passed in NC which then the NCAA pulled all events out of the state.

We would have been in Greensboro, instead we went to Greenville SC. Why the NCAA put SC there is beyond me. We were already being penalized by not playing in NC, now we had to play a road game with not only South Carolina fans in the building, but UNCheat was there too. A total screw job by the corrupt NCAA.

For sure. That team could score easier but rebound and defend better—defense, free throw shooting, and rebounding travel. Our offense has looked much improved. I just worry about ORU's three point shooting.
