Sweet Sixteen Picks: Utah Runnin' Utes vs. Duke Blue Devils
Underestimating the Utah Utes has become detrimental to one's bankroll, those that have faded the Utes, that is. Marco D'Angelo of WagerTalk.com outlines why he believes the Utah Utes have over-the-top value getting nearly a touchdown on Friday night in his Sweet Sixteen Picks video when the No 1 seed Duke Blue Devils take to the NRG Stadium hard-court in a battle for a spot in .
Utah (26-8) found themselves down early in the round of 32 against a motivated Georgetown group last weekend, but found a way to battle back and secure a 75-64 victory over the Hoyas. The Utes did what they do well by not panicking, staying the course and getting all of their players involved. Utah saw four players score in double figures with standout point guard Brandon Taylor leading the way with 14 points. The Utes top five scorers spread the ball around making it difficult for their opponents to key on any one player. And late in games four of the five scoring threats shoot over 80 percent from the free throw line giving Utah a huge advantage inside the final minute of play in a close game. Utah reserve Dakarai Tucker has been a godsend off the bench during the tournament scoring 20 points on 60 percent shooting in the first two rounds of play.
It is hard to argue with the form of the Blue Devils (31-4) as the squad has found a way to win 14 of their last 15 tests. They have also stymied a handful of opponents over their last seven tilts, the five teams in question (Syracuse, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Robert Morris and San Diego State) have been held to less than 58 points. This is a young Duke group led by Freshman wing Justise Winslow and by the projected number one overall pick in this summer's NBA draft, Jahlil Okafor
Note: Utah has not reached the Elite 8 since it advanced to the national championship game in 1998 while Duke has advance to the regional final only twice since 2004.
