Glue Guys is a broad definition, Leaders in the floor or locker room, guys who make everyone around them better, those who inspire by example.. That said, and based on your own personal definition of what a "Glue Guy Means to you, individually....

Name your Starting Lineup of (DUKE) "Glue Guys"..I will Lead Off

C - Lance Thomas
PF - Amile Jefferson
SF- Shane Battier
SG- Chris Carrawell
PG -Tommy Ammaker

Strongly Considered - Daniel Ewing, DeMarcus Nelson, Wojo, Brian Davis, Sean Dockery, Quinn Cook, Marshall Plumlee, John Scheyer

Not Considered - Rasheed Sulimon, Greg Newton, Austin Rivers

It's amazing how much basketball iq comes into play for these glue guys. I remember when Javin committed, the constant comparison was that he was going fit the mold of the Amile Jefferson type of glue player. He was also clearly the more athletic player. The difference is that Amile had such a high basketball iq on both ends of the floor. He always played within himself and played mistake free basketball. This is something that he's been complimented about by coaches on the professional level as well. The unsung hero of the national championship game with his defense against Kaminsky.

PG Quinn Cook
SG Jim Spanarkel
C Marshall Plumlee
PF Shane Batttier
SF Kyle Singler

Could have put 10 other guys as starters and probably will want to change it once I see the guys others pick but I won't. OFC

Shane Battier had such a crazy career. He started as a quintessential glue guy, in the way you think of Amile Jefferson or Lance Thomas, and ended as the best player in the country.

PG: Wojo
2: Quin
SF: Battier
PF: Amile
C: Zoubek

Edited to add that I could literally make 10 more lists and feel just as confident in each list that I had picked the right guys!

It’s been really interesting to see some of these lists and get an idea of how folks interpret glue guys. Like Vol said, it’s up to everyone to define what it means to them. To me, it’s a guy who can not only add some of that toughness and leadership but is versatile in their game. They can do whatever the team asks of them and play whatever role is necessary to keep the team together- glue.

So i think of guys like Amile, C-Well, Scheyer, Jack White, Nate James, Justise, McCleod, Shane in his first couple seasons.
