Seriously?

Adding a shot clock would be great but I know for some schools in NC, money would be an issue. Athletic budgets are really struggling right now with new cost of officials (if you can find them) and some having to increase their security by adding things like walk through metal detectors. I know some places are now charging 10 bucks a ticket to get in. I was talking to someone that was a family of 5. Out 50 bucks before they have even sat down. Kids want something to eat, before it's all said and done, 100 bucks spent at a Tuesday night basketball game. They have decided it's just not worth it.

Again, shot clock would be great but there are some other issues to tackle first.

Dean Smith tried holding the ball twice on Duke and regretted it . In the 60s at the ACC TOURNEY in Greensboro, Duke beat Cheatin' Dean 21-20. In the 70's Duke led UNC in Durham 7-0 at the half, before winning 47-40.

The “airball” chant originated at the 7-0 game. I had the pleasure of attending that day.

Went to see Alcindor his senior year in HS when Power Memorial came to Trenton to play Cathedral High. Place was packed, but Cathedral threw up a stall and score ended up something like 22 to 16. Many many boos, as you can imagine, including from yours truly.

My high school team did that my freshman year. We were playing Amityville high school, and they had an all American named Shelton Jones, who played at St. John's and in the NBA. We lost maybe 22 to 14 or something close to that. I was on JV so I was in the stands.

Wasn't that when the chant "air ball" originated? I believe Rich Yonaker was the UNC player who launched it to end the first half. I could be wrong though.
