RIP John Feinstein

Just heartbroken at this news, I’ve read so many of his books. Anytime anything significant happens in college basketball or sport in general I always headed over to the Post or checked social media outlets to see if John has commented on it. A Season on the Brink was one of the great sports books of all time. He’s written many other great college basketball books. The legends club about Dean, Mike and Jimmy V, A March to Madness, A Season Inside. One of his first books, Forever’s Team was about the 1978 Duke team. His last book called Five Banners is excellent. But he could cover any sport hell I’ve got a 1991 Tennis book he did on my shelf called Hard Courts where he covered the 1990 professional Tennis season.

Bill Brill, John Feinstein, Al Featherston, some tremendous voices in the sport who were all Duke grads/fans gone.

Big loss not only for Duke fans, but for all sports lovers. Season on the Brink is still a must read. I just finished Five Banners, which is a great trip down memory lane, plus some stories I’d never heard before. RIP, John, you’ll be missed.
