Not what you think our success is but just your personal enthusiasm for watching duke basketball this season.

Going into the year I’m usually pretty jazzed but idk, this year coming into it I just wasn’t feeling it. Everything covid seemed to quiet duke buzz and also yet another Class of freshman I don’t know. And honestly I felt like a bad fan for it.

but as the season goes on and more and more games are canceled it feels like ive barely seen our team this year and still don’t know a soul besides Goldwire and baker.

I guess I’m just wondering if it’s just me or not.

Not just you, but hopefully things get better and we can have more of a routine. Hopefully that starts tomorrow.

I always have a high enthusiasm for Duke basketball no matter what their record is or how they are playing. This season, like what was just mentioned, they have barely played any games, and it’s already January, so that has made it more difficult, and I could definitely understand why some fans may not be as excited going forward with the season.

I have none right now. Our games keep getting cancelled. When I log on I just expect to see another game postponed. hopefully it turns around fast because the Pac 12 where I live are 4 games in already. For some reason the women canceling the season was a very bad sign for the season to me.

Will always be enthusiastic for each and every Duke game regardless of the situation.

Currently, I am very excited to see how this team gets better each game. The lost games have obviously hurt the development, but I remain optimistic about what this team can turn into.

I think anyone saying ‘high’ is just saying it to look like a really good fan.

It’s been a grind. Technically, we’d be about two months in right now with 12 or 13 games under our belts during a normal season. We’re all looking for something right now but there just isn’t a lot to point to. Even sports....it’s used as a distraction from reality. It’s not....at least not this season.

We’ve now had 6 games cancelled/postponed, 5 games played. Incredible.

Watching the few games that Duke. has been able to play has been weird as well. Without the crazies, Cameron feels like a high school gym.

It's really hard to get excited about the season when games keep getting canceled and you don't know till tip off actually happens that you are going to play!!!

I'm definitely not as into this season as past years, it's hard to get excited when our games are getting cancelled. What I have noticed for myself, when we do play, I'm just happy to watch Duke basketball. Take our loss to MSU at home: in a normal year, that would have ruined my week, I would have felt sick to my stomach getting dominated at home. Sometimes a Duke game can almost be torture to me when we play terrible. However, this year I really didn't care, I enjoyed watching that game and it was nice to be able to watch the guys we have been discussing for over a year now. As long as we have a tournament somehow at the end of the season, than I can't complain.

Next year hopefully is back to normal though, I know Duke will be back to normal in that we will be absolutely loaded.

Mine are very low. I do hate it for the players because they came to Duke to play at the highest level and so far they have mainly played against each other.

Don’t see anything getting back to normal anytime soon. The one thing that is catching my eye is that most all schools in the SEC, Big Ten and Big east have all played ten to 13 games . So is it just the ACC schools that are drastically being impacted.

I have a zero on the enthusiasm scale. No fans makes it difficult also cause I miss the atmosphere. Every game feels like a scrimmage

It sad but I have been a true Duke fan for 45 years of my 52 years on earth and this is the first year that I have not kept up with it at all. I can’t even tell you when their next game is and I have never done that. Between the cancellations and the knowing we do not have a shot this year at nothing, it has been hard to focus on Hoops. 2020 has taken it’s toll.

I've gotten used to Duke not playing. I'll tune into other games and watch a close game like West Virginia or Creighton yesterday but I don't even think about when Duke will play again. Too many cancellations, not a lot of enthusiasm for the team right now that looks to be about the 20-25th best team in the nation. Perhaps if Duke can actually play a few games in a row I might get back into it.

I've seen us play once and that was against Illinois. I was also much less interested last year while still suffering from Zion hangover.

I'm far, far less interested than I typically am. A lot of it is Covid, but honestly, a lot of it is Duke basketball and what our system has become as well.

I’ve never been more apathetic about Duke and college basketball. It’s a bad product. They have to change the system - it’s a joke.

I used to watch every game every year. Last year, I watched probably 5-6 games and only the Illinois game this year.

I always hated if I had to miss a game until last year when I missed probably about half. If I'm not going to know anyone on the team and have zero connection/attachment/whatever to them then they better at least be entertaining to watch. If I'm not seeing a show/being entertained and I don't know these kids at all and won't know them because they'll be gone the next year then it's not much incentive for me to religiously tune in.

Fwiw, I do understand how entitled and spoiled of a fan I am. But at the end of the day this is entertainment for me; it's not wrapped up in my identity as a person.

I used to love getting to know the personalities of the players, the team as a whole, strengths/weaknesses, Much more difficult in this era I don’t begrudge the players leaving early but it feels too much like a business arrangement at times

I just hope most of our guys come back and we are good next year. But I am never saying the word superteam about next year. We have a long way to go. But we should be Elite 8/knocking on the door good and it will be nice to have a bunch of upperclassmen. I don't think much about this year anymore as our games keep getting cancelled.

I put low, just because I am losing my optimism about the season. Not the play of the team. I love my teams no matter how they perform. But the cancellations - the games that I have watched (across the College Basketball spectrum) just seem lackluster.

I had the same Zion hangover for much of last year but was still very into it, especially as the regular season ended and I thought we had a legit chance for #6 with Tre and Vern and Cash. Ending the season prematurely left a really sour taste on my tongue that i'm still not quite over. Jeez, I barely even know what our guys LOOK like this season. I'll need some labels on the team poster.

But if anything, this season proved how vital fans are to college basketball. Almost as important as the actual players.

Maybe it’s due to the fact that they’re so much closer to the court but basketball misses the fans more than other team sports

Yeh we’re pretty much in whatever we get this year is a bonus mode at this point

I would still rate my enthusiasm as high. I'm a routine guy - so in the winter, I expect to be able to come home from work and watch college basketball every night. On the weekends, it's all day long.

With everyone's routines being messed with this year, it's got me dying for Duke basketball even more than normal I would say. I get so bummed when a game gets canceled. I get excited, and then crash.

So even though we haven't played great, I still am really looking forward (and praying) that Duke basketball will give me that winter jolt I need, that feeling you get on gameday.

I will admit, however, (and someone already said it but not sure who) the women canceling the season was worrisome to me....

You guys are missing out. I'm just excited college basketball has games. Watch the Big 12 and Big Ten. Good, quality competition on a nightly basis. Gonzaga is fun to watch, too.

What happened that the big 10 can place basketball but couldn't play football

I'm guessing they were trying to be the leaders in COVID cautiousness. They thought everyone would follow suit and cancel the season. When that didn't happen, they realized the would be missing out on a huge piece of the revenue pie. There were never any serious talks about canceling the college basketball season, so you could say they became conformists at that point.

I miss the crazies. You don’t realize how awesome they make til you watch a game without them there. It’s definitely a different deal.. I’m sure it’s hard to get as amped up during the games or ahead of time but the reality is some Duke basketball is significantly better than no Duke basketball, imo.
