Thought this was very interesting as it could really throw a wrench in the CBB/NBA/G league setup if it takes off
And to see a couple of high profile HS players jump in already indicates it may have substance

Who are they even playing against and don’t they still have to get accredited to give the players a high school diploma? I would like to see who they are playing against because it could end up showing more weaknesses in their games then helping them. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.[/url]

I’m pretty disappointed in Kevin Ollie for agreeing to be the “coach.” It’s somewhat similar to what IMG Academy has done but IMG doesn’t come straight out and publicly pay players. When you see articles from IMG grads who were athletes, they basically say you spend 80-85% of your time training, practicing, and playing football or basketball.

Another group tried doing something that was a hybrid of IMG and this Overtime Elite setup and made the mistake of originally hiring Rush Propst to coach their football team.

IMO, Kevin Ollie is doing himself and any kids that go this route a disservice by allowing them to use him and his name/coaching history to give this thing some credibility. With NIL getting ready to be put into place nationally, it will be curious to see if the G League is the group that loses out on talent or this new upstart group.

I learned more playing basketball in pickup games with 30 year old men than I did going to camps with 15 year olds. I like the European model of joining a pro league at 16 better than IMG or Monteverde Academy.

I'm all for this CBB. So tired of the one and done era although I have thoroughly enjoyed the ones who have briefly passed our way. I look at it this way. Sure we will not see the top notch talent but if they don't choose college we won't miss them. The top programs and Duke will still be one will get the best of the rest. The ones by the time they leave Duke will be able to play defense and make free throws. Yes I'm old school but I yearn for those senior days when we applaud the four year guys. It will still be Duke basketball and the atmosphere at Cameron will still be there. OFC
