Ranking the Blue Devil players.....

Really disappointing to see Javin so low on the list this late in his career. I remember thinking that we weren’t going to be able to take him off the floor after the Michigan St. game his sophomore year with his defensive tenacity and energy. Just seemed like he was going to be a true impact player even if it didn’t always show up in the box score. He’s regressed since last season where he was really starting to come on strong towards the end of the season. Hopefully he could flip the switch this season.

I'd put White ahead of Moore for sure. I'd put Tre ahead of Carey only because Tre has the ball in his hands all the time and is the key to Duke's pressure defense.

The way the writer did it really shows some interesting stats. For example, no one is really playing a lot of minutes except Tre, and his 33 mpg is a lot less than key players in previous years. Also, Carey's production is sensational when you consider he's doing it in 24 mpg.

I disagree with several of his grades. Don’t know how he came up with some of them.
Alex and Javin—D
Joey, Matthew, and Wendell—C
Jack—B
Tre, Jordan, Cassius, Vernon—A

Matthew and Wendell have been too inconsistent imo to get a B, and I don’t know what team you’re watching if Jordan doesn’t get an A

Overall pretty accurate, though I do think Javin and Alex would be slotted at D in my opinion....Hope one or both makes me eat those grades tomorrow....OFC

What surprised me the most is AOC shooting 56% free throws. I know that's limited attempts but that's terrible for any player let alone a shooting guard

Pretty spot on. I'd probably slot Jack above Wendell based on the year so far, however I do think Wendell is gonna be one of our most crucial guys down the stretch.

And yeah, Alex and Javin should be given grades that make them go to summer school.

One thing to like is that the top eight, on a game-by-game basis, can sometimes almost be interchangeable.

I think Vernon is our 'best' player, but I feel Tre is the most important. On a very strict grading curve, it's hard for me to give anything lower than a B to Vernon, Tre, Cassius, Matthew, Jordan and Jack. Vernon, Tre and Cassius have been great, and I think Jordan and Jack, based solely on what they provide, should be graded high. Matthew has played like a freshman. If this is 2005, he's a solid B. In today's college basketball where freshmen are asked to do a lot more (especially at Duke), he might not be a solid B because he has been inconsistent.

With Wendell he gets an incomplete. Like Hurt, he's played like a freshmen when healthy. Some highs, definite lows, but I think he's been average or even a little better. Joey is in a funk now, but I think overall he's still a C. Unfortunately, Alex and Javin have been disappointments....but I think both have proven, albeit in small(er) sample sizes, that they can contribute. They're just incredibly inconsistent and running out of chances.
