R.I.P Hammerin' Hank

A great all around player. An underrated right fielder and good base runner. And a quality man who lived through unbelievable racial abuse.

In my opinion the fact that he played in smaller markets a good deal of his career as opposed to one of the NY or California teams prevented him from getting the acclaim he deserved.

Another MLB great. There have been so many in the past year. OFC
Yeh Sky, the stars from mine and your younger days are disappearing at a high rate this year. It's so sad. Rest in peace, Hammerin Hank!!!

I remember #715 was nationally televised in anticipation of the event. April 8, 1975, I believe. Off Al Downing. I was disappointed that it wasn't a deep shot. It barely went over the fence

He'll be greatly missed. Henry made huge strides for civil rights, the way he carried himself. Went through numerous death threats on his way to the HR title... Handled it all like the pro he was!

RIP sir, what a player. Very interesting this was after the Covid19 vaccine too.

one reason he was never held held in higher regard was just that Hank never hit monster shots but then he didn't play the majority of his career at the Polo Grounds and his cap actually fit and didn't blow off on command. Had he played for a New York or Philadelphia team well
then

I didn't realize until this week that Henry Aaron was voted the third best defensive right fielder of all time
