Next commit?

this is the first time in many years that a recruit can commit early to Duke knowing that there will be an open spot. We've got a lot of them available!

I would bet its Flipowski....maybe even as soon as on his official visit next week, but if not, I'd still put my money on him as first commit.

Lively. If I had to bet. The front court in two different positions is absolutely empty after next season.

Just don’t think Lively is as close to committing as some think. He’s heavily considering UNC and Kentucky along with Duke. Penn State & Michigan are both darkhhorse candidates to land him due to his mom working at Penn State and Juwan Howard has been hotter than any coach. on the recruiting trail.

Whitehead seems like a done deal, as does Flipowski.

First commit would be more accurate. I think Jon should get a pass his first year, as there will be massive turnover. Year 2 will be more telling.

I’ll agree whitehead could be but I’m not sold on flipowski as much as most . I do think it comes Down to Duke and Syracuse for him.

I don't see that Ryan Kelly and Kyle Singler had anything in common except being white. Singler was ultra tough, liked to bang inside and had an inconsistent shot. Kelly, just the opposite on all counts.

Just looking at highlights of Filipowski, he looks like he has polished floor moves and nice shot but could use some weight, like most young guys not named Zion or Wendell Carter.

Flipkowski looks like a four year guy. Would be a nice get. Singler was one of my favorite players ever but yes that jumper was inconsistent.

Jabari Parker actually looks like a good match, except Jabari was highly skilled in all aspects of the offensive game, and may have been ranked in the top 3. Of course in return Filipowski might actually run down to the defensive end of the court, we can't tell yet.

Fil is already 6-10 230… not sure how much more wt you want on him.
Ryan Kelly would be a good comp but Fil has a better handle, more athletic and moves his feet better

A proven shooter and scorer at the 3 would be nice. Garcia looks really good. We do already have AJ Griffin, but I'm not sure how much of a shooter/scorer he will be in his one year at Duke, as he looks a bit raw to me. But people around here seem really high on Griffin. I still think we could add another shooter, and Garcia fits the bill.

6-11, 235 playing small forward???

Oh I thought he was a wing ha.
He can play 3, 4 or 5. His greatest skill is defending the perimeter. He's not a great rebounder. He has good timing. Should be a better shot blocker. I think that he is terrific. I only watched him closely when he had 24 and 11 against UNC on only 13 shots

The clips I saw reminded me of Baldwin a bit. Guy can score from all over.

Consider the competition

He’s visiting Arizona. I think Duke is set for this season. There is a s only so many balls to go around .

I agree but we still need shooting. Other teams are still improving. We need someone who can consistently knock down a 3 pointer or our final four drought will continue. . Keels could be that guy, as could Roach. On an unrelated note, I've heard Kofi from Illinois is either transferring or going to the NBA. If Kentucky nabs him they will be scary.

He entered the transfer portal officially. Duke has shooters . Keels, Baker, Moore, Roach, Griffin, Blake. I mean adding one more person who can shoot isn’t going to mean that shooter is going to knock them down every game. I think that is how the staff sees it as well.

He and Tshiebwe would be completely redundant. I doubt they go after him, but if so, Tshiebwe will be pissed.

There are still a lot of players with drawing from the draft. My guess is it would have to be an absolute game changer for K to bring another player on with August right around the corner. Isn’t that when in team work outs begin?

Kentucky seems pretty confident they land Cockburn. The 2 assistants who recruited him are now there. If they do I would have to put them at preseason number one. Cal has been very aggressive the last few months.

Marcus Bagley withdrew from the draft. Interesting. I would take him. Darn just heard he is returning to ASU.

Darn Dawson Garcia to UNC. The top teams are really being aggressive in the transfer market. I hate to say it but they will be good. I really like Garcia's game.

I agree, it sucks to say, but it does make them a much better team now. I wish Duke looked a little harder at the transfer market as well. Kentucky and UNC have some strong depth at this point.
