I watched Sacha Killeya-Jones last night way out in rural Dyke, Virginia at Blue Ridge School. The 6-10 PF from Virginia Episcopal in Lynchburg had a big matchup versus Mamadi Diakite, a 6-9 shotblocking phenom from Blue Ridge.
Sacha had some moments. First off, he's long, skilled and smart. Has a nice feel for the game and face-up touch. He runs the floor and protects the rim with his length. Kid is skinny, but has added 15 pounds since August. He's now 207 pounds.
Lots of coaches were there to see him and/or Diakite. UVA, UNC, ODU, VCU, Washington and others.
Sacha has taken a couple of visits to Duke and they remain in contact with him, but no offer at this point.
Diakite, who is a raw athletic monster, is more explosive, a better leaper, outstanding shotblocker and finisher at the rim. UVA is doing well with him, as is Washington, USC and Kentucky has shown some initial interest.
His coach told me last night that Duke has been in touch about Diakite as well, Worth mention, but nothing serious at this point.
