McDonald’s All-American game tonight

Surprised Flip didn’t make it. Thought he was a top 10 recruit? Whitehead looks nice though.

Whitehead with 11 points and 3-of-4 from 3. I’m impressed

Just looked at the rivals247 player rankings and it shows that we have the top 3 players..... The last I looked at it which was a while ago, Whitehead was around 5 or 6

1)WHITEHEAD
2)FLIP
3)LIVELY
Whitehead is filling it up from outside. Incredible range! OFC

The East by 20 over the West at halftime. Whitehead (East) with 11 and 5 assists

Zags

The 6-foot-11 Filipowski was originally a member of the Class of 2021 but reclassified to 2022, Wilbraham & Monson (MA) coach Mike Mannix said. He said he had a conversation with Filipowski ahead of the season letting him know he was unlikely to be chosen because the McDonald’s selection committee generally doesn’t choose player who reclass.

You can go to private school and do an extra year of high school.. people do it to be recruited sometimes not really sure why a player his quality would though
Could be wrong but didn’t he take a huge jump in the rankings over the past year. Wasn’t he rated as a 50-100 type recruit previously?

oh sweet, see I don’t follow recruiting much, I just know a couple local players went to private school to get an extra year in hopes of playing college ball

This is not unusual. Cassius Stanley did this too if I remember correctly.

Lots of kids reclass, take a 5th year at a private/prep school. Kyle and his twin brother were both young for their original graduating class, having November birthdays. They won't turn 19 until after their freshman seasons begin. Basically they go from being the youngest kids in their class to a a touch older than most. Really makes sense for bigs.

Both are good students. They certainly weren't left behind.

I watched about 1/3 of the game, from halfway through the first half into the second half. That was as much as I could take. Other than throwing up bricks at the beginning of the 2nd half, Whitehead looked smooth and a good defender. Frankly, I didn't see Lively do much at all. He seems to disappear on offense except for an occasional alley-oop. Mitchell definitely is built for the college game and is a solid player. In general our guys are good but don't really have the wow factor.

Of course, I remember seeing Paulus at the Mac game and thinking he was the next Hurley. I saw Hurley and thought Billy McCaffery was a better point guard. So you can't really learn much from this game.

Whitehead is going to be my favorite player next year. Which NBA player does he remind you of?
A less physical but taller Dwayne Wade or a poor man’s version of a certain 6ft 6 player from UNC
who wore number 23?

Rupps Rafters said there guy would have made MVP if he hadn’t missed so many shots. And they would be in the Final 4 also, they just didn’t make enough shots. Only reason.
