UNC started the game last night with 4 players that have played for 2 national tilted and grad transfer who is experienced in the ACC (and a legit shooter). That experienced prevailed in many ways but or and will it continue to be the case even into next year.
UNC returns
Luke Maye, Sr,- who was in the running for ACC player of the year and has developed into a pretty good big. Very experienced
Kenny Williams, Sr- who can know down shots and could make another jump again next year. Very experience
** Cameron Johnson, Grad- has the opportunity to return. Very good shooter and scorer with size.
Seventh Woods, Jr- who could split time at PG and has been on the team contributing during the back to back Tilte runs.
Brandon Robinson, Jr- who has the ability to be a scorer/shooter and has gotten his feet wet during the last two seasons.
These will be the leaders of UNC- experienced & successful in big events
Add in this year's Fr
3 bigs- Which have developed during this year and even made an impact in last nights game.
Platek- gets minutes as an off guard.
This group will return and continue to develop with a year of experience under their belt.
Mix in their incoming Fr
Coby White- who could start at PG and is an Mr Basketball in his state and a McD's All American
Little- who could start as either their 3 or as a small 4- hard working another McD's guy
Black- a scorer who can also handle the ball.
The roster UNC will roll out will have experienced players with young talent mixed in.
Now looking at Duke
Returning
Vrank, Sr- a big, who has not gotten much play time and what to expect is relatively unknown.
Bolden, Jr- has the ability to be the man in the middle and has shown flashes of what he can really do. BUT, no idea if he returns and if he does, can he stay and be consistent both in scoring, rebounding and protecting the rim. Has 2 years under him but both years he has missed quite a bit of time due to injury.
Javin, Jr- most athletic big guy who works extremely hard and runs the floor. Is making strides. Needs to show some offensive skills in either making shots or with in the paint. Fouls, fouls, fouls...
JRob, RS, walk on stretch 4 guy, hat has gotten some game time. Can shoot the ball and defend the rim some. Not really experienced
Jack, Jr- a guy that has shown development and contributed defensively with communication in the zone, and rebounding. He can shoot the ball, just hasn't brought that element to games yet.
This is the group that Duke will rely on for leadership and experience. One of or some of these guys will need to be the leaders of a young group and guide them in battle.
The returning Fr
Alex- most expect a huge jump from him and his contribution next year. He will get stronger. He already brings a competitive nature and scoring/shooting skills.
Jordan G- was a surprise this year in he has grit defensively, is calm with the ball in his hands and can run a team. Another one who will get stronger
Now the incoming class
All 4 guys, Tre, RJ, Cam & Zion are expected to be starters. With all of their accolades and awards they will be Fr and need to learn. What's good is:
- some have played for USA/Canada basketball or internationally.
On paper, Duke has superior talent than UNC at all positions except for Maye. But Duke will lack that big game and big event experience as well as battle proven leadership. So which wins outs...
