Maryland got jobbed

as a 4 seed in Kentucky's region. Just silly. Terps finish 2nd in a 7 bid league with wins over Wisconsin, Iowa State (3 seed) and Ok St (away) plus other wins over other tournament teams. By comparison, the other 4 seeds have double digit losses. Georgetown a 4? Really? UNC? Louisville? Maryland is measurably better than each of those teams.

Oh well, time to lace them up and play. Tough one out of the gate with Valpo, and in their backyard (relatively). On a side note, would love to see Terps-Buffalo in 32s; very glad to see Hurley doing well.

Good luck to you guys.

Hmmmm....

4 seeds:

Maryland 27-6
UNC 24-11
Louisville 24-8
Georgetown 24-11

3 seeds:

Baylor 24-9
Oklahoma 22-10
Iowa State 25-8
Notre Dame 29-5

Only Notre Dame has more wins than Maryland (and fewer losses). I understand your anti-terrapin sentiment, but Maryland certainly deserved to be on the 3 line, and if on the 4 line, they should not be in Kentucky's region. Basically, the Big 12 got WAY too much respect. And again, Maryland beat their champion on a neutral court.

I have to agree with you. I really thought the other 4s were overseeded.

UNC as a 4 seed is about right. They have come on and are playing pretty well right now. They have quality talent (in fact, if K were coaching that talent I think they'd be a 2 seed - they'd be much tougher).

But, Oklahoma as a 3 over Maryland? With 10 losses? That's absurd. The committee is really overrating the Big 12, imo. KU should not be a 2, imo, with 8 losses. Including a slaughtering by UK and a crushing loss to Temple (77-52).

And, if the committee bases the seedings on more than just the stats over the season, but also factor's in the "eye test" and also the quality of play currently - Louisville simply is not a 4 seed (not with the loss of Smith). And, I'm not a hater on them, but this L'Ville team, "as is," is a 5 or 6 seed, imo.
