The 2021 Florida high school football season was a launching point for 2024 quarterback Riley Trujillo. The 6-4, 195-pound, field general for Jacksonville’s Bartram Trail hit on 85 of 136 for 978 yards with nine touchdowns tossed against just one pick. Showcasing his growing dual-threat abilities, he covered 323 yards with two scores off 64 carries.

Early offers have come in from Georgia Tech, Louisville, and Middle Tennessee State with Duke showing interest. The Blue Devils got him on campus in late March with the three-star giving Rivals a quick overview of the time on campus.

“It was really fun,” Trujillo said. “I had a great time. I saw the team’s second day out after spring break; their second practice.”

Trujillo liked what he saw in offensive coordinator Kevin Johns’ offense.

“It was really good,” Trujillo shared. “It was fast-paced and really intense. I liked seeing the quarterbacks get after it.”

Asked about seeing his skills mesh with the Blue Devils’ scheme, Trujillo replied, “I saw a couple of quarterbacks with really strong arms, I do believe I have a really strong arm.”

Trujillo is planning to return to Chapel Hill this summer for a Blue Devils’ football camp.
