Yes, just won’t feel right if they’re not in there. I know we have some old timers here, but for me, this would be the first time watching the tourney without duke in it.

I’ll watch. Will pull hard for Florida State. Would love to see Hamilton win it all

I’ll check and see if there’s a Cinderella team playing, winning against higher seeds but outside of that nah

Sure - there are some great fundamentally sound and experienced teams in the tournament that are a joy to watch.

I was so heartbroken when the tourney was cancelled last year, it’s bitter sweet to have it back without Duke

I just watched Loyola Chicago beat Drake for the automatic bid. I'll cheer for Loyola. I like the back to back games played in the smaller conferences this year

Yes. But won't be as interested as I would be. Basketball is basketball, unless it's DUKE BASKETBALL, THEN ITS REAL BASKETBALL... I just hope we beat BC, roll through Louisville and can make it to the ACC Championship, and if we do lose,, the committee gives us a birth. Heck, I'd take a 15 or 16 seed... But maybe they will play with NOTHING TO LOSE and win the Tournament. FINGERS CROSSED.

I'll watch and feel less pressure. I will not have to worry how every game affects Duke. I will not be upset with the refs. I will root for the underdogs. It should be fun. Will something be missing? Sure. But it will be better than last year when there was no tournament at all.

I will watch because it is the best sporting event and I always watch. I will readily admit that I am significantly less enthused than I normally am. That isn't just because Duke won't be involved (though obviously that has a huge bearing), but also because it won't have the same vibe it normally does, with the centralized location and the limited fans. I'll still tune in, just not as much as normal where I'm more or less locked in throughout.

I normally go to the regional 1st/second round if its close - the atmosphere is awesome as there are so many different fan bases in the stands - the underdog usually gets the neutrals and other fans so it makes for a great atmosphere in every game...especially if the underdog is winning! Cant see it being that sort of atmosphere this year with the logistics...as with most games this year, its been a very hollow and HS gymesque atmosphere at games.

I’ll watch every game if possible due to basketball addiction. NCAAT is best event hands down.

My favorite event of the year. That first Thursday of the tourney is like Christmas morning to me. But it will be odd without fans and without all the different sites. I have found CBB pretty boring without fans this year. But will still watch.

NCAA committee still favors the double digit loss P5 conference teams over the lower conferences with better overall win totals - I've always disliked that, as i would rather see a lower team get a shot than a mediocre P5 team exit early, because they have a scheduling advantage over the lower teams. The NCCAT is about a chance,...and nothing is more exciting than a lower level team beating a big name program for the fans

Zion with the mic drop! Love it.

Are you still watching?
Yes. Duke hasn’t had a chance to win in years. Even zions year you kinda knew what was coming Time for coach k to get back to motion offense and coach knight fundamentals across the board. Whatever this is lately ain’t cutting it

Hey timo I didn’t know you enjoyed watching duke lose, forfeit your mod privileges please you poser. You make me sick. ;)

Am I reading the bracket correctly? Rutgers and Maryland are precluded from playing each other in the championship game? That's total BS.

So one kid quit and now that’s what I’m ok with huh? Now that’s where we are as a program? One bad year in 40 and that’s who we are now? Amazing.
It’s been more than one 1995 was 26 years ago not 40 it’s been a great run. We all love coach k, but his teams don’t play like they used to. You seem like a smart guy surely you have noticed this. Don’t pretend like this season is a complete outlier There have been successful seasons based on a roster full of Big Mac aas but we all knew those teams were going nowhere as the first legit team they played in the ncaas yup sure enough they lost.

Right my point saying “40 years” was that before 95, the last timewe had missed it was when K started (missed it in 81-83). So once in 37 years, until this year, yeah i can live with it.

To your second comment. “We all knew it was going nowhere,” well that’s your opinion, I’m not sure who “we all” is there, but if you are that smart then man, shoehorn me the winning lotto numbers too. You didn’t think we had a shot in 2018 or 2019? You didn’t think we had a shot in 2017 once we got healthy- especially with what we did in the ACCT? Amile goes down early in 2016, but we probably didn’t have a shot then. We won in 2015. Last year we were trending- thought it was pretty wide open last year and we had all the tools- excellent Pg and a front court monster in Vern. We also had JR playing like a man possessed- at worst- we had a shot.

This year was a disaster. No other way to put it. Much of it, self inflicted on and off the court. In that respect, there needs to be a major self reassessment as a program and on K. But I’m not ready to suggest the last five years or so we didn’t have the opportunities and ability to win it all.

Back to the original topic I must say that I’m surprised by the attitude many duke fans have regarding this years tourney. Whether duke is in or not there’s something magical about this event. I’ll be watching every second every minute til the day I die
