So was messaging back and forth with someone, and was saying that the abrupt end to last year, the whole covid nonsense, and now this years team being SO many new faces... I feel like I've sort of lost track of where our basketball team is!

Anyone have any particular "welcome to the year" piece that they enjoyed? Because I need to start reading up on the team:)

This year is a complete and utter mystery.I have always thought that Cameron was worth five to six points per game to us.Playing without the fans loses that edge for us .I watched some practice tapes and did not recognize most of the players. The only positive thing right now is that we will get to see some Duke BB

Yeah, most years I could totally give you a 1-12 breakdown of what I expected the minutes breakdown to be... this year, I don't think I can even name who is ON the team. I know part of it is just exhaustion and all of that and I am not keeping up, but part of it is the massive turn over...

Looking forward once again for the season to start. Hurt has put on about 25 pounds which should help him inside from getting banged around. Goldwire is gonna be a real leader and I feel Baker can be a leader also. Word out is that the NCAA has granted players who want it an extra year of elegibility which includes both Jordan and Joey. Don't know exactly how it's gonna work but that's what I'm hearing. Moore is looking real good in practice and the freshman are blending well. Coleman, Stewart, Brakefield , Roache and Williams are freshman that are going to be good and around for more than one season and Tape is gonna be a good pick up. Coach K may have to expand the bench because we can be the deep. The season is fast approaching and of course like always we will know more then. So far no talk of transfers though. GO DUKE. OFC

I haven't seen any publicized preview releases come out either, gotta be due to the uncertainty of the season. What we know as of now: we will open up against Gardner Webb the night before Thanksgiving, and the Champions Classic is 6 days later, Tues Dec 1st. Rumors (on twitter) are that the ACC wants another 20 game schedule. It's also been said everywhere that the NCAA will do EVERYTHING in their power to have the tournament this year, just too much money at stake. The tournament may look different, but unless the virus starts spreading like a wildfire, it's gonna happen.

As far as the Duke team, I'm as excited as anyone, this team is gonna be a lot of fun. The roster is different, but I expect the team to perform like last year, we can beat anyone but if we play bad we can also lose to anyone. This team doesn't have the top-end talent like some previous Duke teams. The NCAA field in general is way down again, so that should help Duke out too. Most ACC projections have UVA finishing 1st with Duke 2nd.
The Baldwin/Keels/Houstan recruitments will be huge news too. This upcoming team is gonna be good, but the 2021-2022 team could be super duper elite.

This looks like a solid sweet 16 team to me if I were to guess. We could be better but there are a lot of moving pieces and freshman. I thought last year's team was a sweet 16 team as well. We may not have the two stars but appear to be deeper. A lot depends on Roach. Moore and Hurt should be solid. Goldwire too. We have 2 big men which is nice. Roach, Steward, Williams, Tape and Brakefield are wild cards at this point. A Baker breakthrough would help.

This season is going to hedge heavily on the jumps That Hurt and Moore take from last year to this year. They will be counted on to be consistent producers this season. I’d expect Roach to have a typical up and down freshmen season. Goldwire is limited. So our PG position is going to need help from everywhere else. Jalen Johnson should be that major weapon that could separate us if he’s as good as we think he will be.

I like our situation with point guards. The luxury to use Roach for running the team, Goldwire for defense and Steward for instant offense is a nice combination. 15 fouls to give and lots of pressure defense. The question is whether Jalen Johnson can be the "go-to guy" when we need a good shot at the end of the game or shot clock since Hurt is not that guy.

Would love to Goldwire and Joey to get another year.Would be nice if they would given Justin another year too.Felt he like he was really coming on and then the rug was pulled out from under him

We'll be good. I think UVA is the team to beat, and us and FSU and UNC are vying for the second spot. I don't like it, but UNC will probably bounce back in a big way. Our frontcourt guys better be ready.
