From time to time I'm able to get some feedback from my college roommate and former NBA Scout. Enjoy.

Jalen Johnson

In his words: “He is a sure fire one-and-done player just based off of his overall abilities. However, he is not a finished product at all. His shooting consistency from distance, his willingness to hit the glass on both ends, and sometimes he doesn’t appear to be vested in the games. Don’t’ get me wrong. I am sure all of these will be addressed early on at Duke. There is no questioning his talent.”

Duke Player comparison: “His size, and potential role at Duke, I can see some Shane Battier.”

Jeremy Roach

In his words: ”Before his ACL injury, I had him pegged for a one-and-done kid, but now we just have to wait and see how his first year at Duke goes. As far as point guard skills he is a natural floor general and a stud defender. So far, this high school season, from what I have seen of him, he looks the part of his old self and that is very good for Duke. If he continues to hit shots and keeps improving his 3pt shooting, he going to be a Pro.”

Duke Player comparison: “I like the Chris Duhon comparison for him.”

Mark Williams

In his words: “He’s still growing into that body, but he seems to be putting it all together. He is unlike recent Duke big guys that have gone on to be one-and-dones. He is extremely long, but agile and moves well. I actually like the progress he is making offensively, but that’s the area in question that he needs to keep showing improvement to the NBA people to best evaluate his NBA impact as a potential one-and-done.”

Duke Player comparison: “He reminds me of Casey Sanders with better hands right now and a more refined offensively. But his body type and how he moves reminds me of Sanders coming out of high school.”

DJ Steward

In his words: “This is a player worth watching. Add some strength and weight on him and he is one-and-done. Kid is as a good of a scorer as anyone in the country that I have seen this year. He is lightning quick with the ball and isn’t just a shooter but he scores in many ways. But what I like about his development this year is he is really zoned in as a defender and he is displaying his athleticism. He’s going to be very good at Duke in their system. ”

Duke Player comparison: “I’ve read Daniel Ewing, but I think he’s even better coming out of high school.”

Jaemyn Brakefield

In his words: “He has been on the NBA scouts radar for years now and his drop in some of the rankings isn’t a reflection on his abilities or develop by any means. He is very skilled for a big. Duke loves recruiting kids like this and in recent years they went after kids like him in (EJ) Montgomery (Kentucky) and (Matthew) Hurt now at Duke. I’m actually higher on him than most based on his ability to handle the ball some and he has gotten much better on both ends on the glass. He will be a Pro. It’s just a matter of when.”

Duke Player comparison: “Tough one. Not sure I got one. So I’ll say a more athletic and tough Hurt.”

Henry Coleman

In his words: “He is for sure is someone to watch. I heard is a good 6-7/6-8 now and pushing 245. I have to admit it, of all the Duke incoming players, I have not seen him play, but I have talked to others who have. They rave about his work ethic, strength and focus on the boards. They just say it will take some time for him to get all the ins and outs of playing in the paint. He is definitely a guy that all teams like to have on their roster because not only is he skilled but he is going to be a great teammate to have in a battle. A future Pro.”

Duke Player comparison: “Honestly, without seeing him in person, I don’t know, but based on what I have been told, I will go with a much stronger Amile Jefferson.”
