Dude. I'm making comments based on what I saw when we were recruiting Rowan vs what I saw when we were recruiting Platek. Hasn't got a dammed thing to with being a Carolina board or not. I liked Rowan coming out of HS but wondered if he'd grow beyond a shooter. I liked Platek more the first time I saw him (which was before he committed) for the reasons I mentioned.

That's my personal assessment, made while they were each respectively potential Heels. I don't give a flying flip about rankings, never have.

OP posed a question. If you want to disagree with my assessment that's fine, offer your own. After all thats the point of the thread. But you can keep that "homer" garbage to yourself.

Platek seems like the gym rat, coach on the floor type that all coaches love to have on their team to me.

You should watch the Dan Patrick Show...you just hit on all of their "cliche white athlete" compliments right there.

And Gary...Rowan as a 17 year old junior was leading his team to a 32-1 record, a state title, while averaging 26.5 points, 5 rebounds, and shooting freaking 61% from the field. He DOMINATED. He then reclassed to go to NC St early. Platek is a nice player this year at NMH (who is very good, 4-5 D1 guys), but no where near the force that Rowan was.

If you say that you think at 17 years old that Platek is a better player than Rowan was (I've seen them both as well)....well, then you're either a complete homer (which is fine, we're fans, it's ok) or your thousand years of playing, coaching, reffing, GM-ing, NBA2k-ing, chumming up with your coaching buddies, etc. has left you with little knowledge of this game.

You're seriously just better off calling yourself a homer and saying you'd never rank a Wolfie over one of our guys. That's far less worse than saying Platek is better at 17 years old than Rowan was.

Dadika calling out Gary 7 and TPFKAPFS over on THR. They are saying unranked platek better than # 30 4* Rowan coming out of HS.

From DSouthr being his usual foolish self:rolleyes:

"The opening battle of the annual war...

Throw out everything you have seen so far this season, this one never goes to plan for either team. I have no clue who will win, I hope we do but I know better than to expect it. What I do know is that if you thought our game vs Ky was intense, ya ain't seen nothin yet! LOL

Duke has K back and you already know they are going to rally around his flag. They are at home in front of their crazies, you already know the clock operator will give them so extra time if they need it. Hicks picked up his first foul when he got out of bed this morning, Meeks picked up his first as he was eating his eggs for breakfast and both will pick up #2 as they step off the bus. All that is worth and extra 8-10pts at least for them.

I am expecting 22 from Kennard, around 16 from the tripper, 12-16 from Tatum. Really hoping not but I already assume either Hicks or Meeks pick up their 3rd foul in the first half so I hope Tony & Luke are ready to go to war. Theo may be the difference maker, really hope Joel & Justin are on, thinking may have to be for us to have a shot at the end.

So the mojo flows in the direction I want it to, gonna visit KFC and Bojangles for an ample supply of chicken bones ( I will bite the bullet and clean the meat off myself so they can make a proper spell :). I hope that is enough but calling this one duke by 5 off a late push and a questionable charging call that goes against us. So now the David picking a team to beat us mojo spell is firmly in place, lets see where this one goes!

Pins & needles guys, pins & needles..."

What Would Jesus Do wrote this on THR;

Luke Maye has been mocked unmercifully by some (not all) Duke fans on their board. A good game for him would be immensely satisfying for him and for UNC fans.

Where is THIS coming from? I object to the "not all' part.

So Luke Maye is hitting up In -N-Out Burger after the game?

He will get a lot more minutes with Hicks out. Is Hicks for sure out. I've seen this act before. If he is out I hope he heals quick. OFC

There was a point in the second half where Duke had more fouls than the holes so I don't want to even hear that BS about the officiating!!

I like this one at the end. I didn't realize Coach K had never seen a zone defense before? Must have been hard for him coaching against it for the first time..

"The snow make up game Paige's sophomore year, but were down big late in that one before Paige got hot & Roy confused the hell out of K with some zone defense"

From some guy named Heelicious....this is really good and why I'll always love UNC fans. Always.

"I guess I'd qualify my hatred for these dbags by defining it much more tightly / closely, to their constantly bitching King of All Aholes coach, and that whiny little 4 year old immature tantrum throwing psycho brat Grayson Allen. Dude has serious emotional / mental issues. Wouldn't go near him with a 10 foot pole if I was an NBA GM. I don't have any issues with any of their other players beyond Trip. In fact, they are quite short on the usual 4-5 dbag trash talking chippy players who can't get by on their talent / game alone..... I guess Trip fillst the quota for 3-4 other punks they normally suit up in other years....

But their fans in the dump (and generally any pretentious Dbag Dook fans you meet anywhere). Just pathetic losers. The whole schtick is old.... and you are nerdy and ugly and awkward enough without trying to go out of your way to look like some sort of social project reject. Love the concept of fat 30 somethings weighing close to 3 bills with body paint and a jersey that never fit. I guess I find it funny how unaware, tone deaf, oblivious they are to what a laughing stock they are outside of their own little pretend Ivy League school and DSPN lapdogs. How somebody not going to school there, or not from Durham, becomes a fan, or wants to associate with this group of misfits, I will never understand, but sure am glad that group will never include me.

There was one line on ESPN's page about Roy being pissed at one point, and talking to security about some fans doing or saying something to him or his team. Shocker, I know, from this fanbase of class and dignity. It would be funny if something arose against Dook via fans, and Dook had a real coach of integrity, and he forfeited the game, or had fans removed, or the whole lower section removed to prove a point.

Ha ha - funny stuff I know - Rat and integrity and character - I crack myself up."

Wow might of just read one of the dumbest things ever posted on an Internet message board.

If someone can tag him to come over here and explain this, I guarantee you there will be no losers.

dadika, JJ is better than Kennard in many areas all over the floor (and two inches taller), IMO, so we can differ there, KW on Disgrayson is close but I'm calling it a wash...I think Kenny can stay with him and cause him to be frustrated, Kenny will force him to move all game long, tired legs by mid second half...as to Jefferson, if he is their only option/big our guys should handle the inside. I agree with you in that we're the better team and as to the qualities of the teams, it isn't close. That and that dump isn't all that tough a place to play. If the camera pans above the brass railing one sees a great many folks sitting.

Seriously he said Kenny Williams is equal or better than Grayson Allen AT BASKETBALL RIGHT NOW.

One should never go full retard, I can not stress that enough.

disgrayson is FINALLY a funny nickname!! They were doing so bad before that!!

My mom (she went to Duke) wanted to know if this one made it here:

" Of all the cruel ironies. We go into that smelly geek-pit against those cheating, pushing, jersey-grabbing sons-of-bitches and at least get enough of it called to get to the line some, and we turn around and lose the game because we can't make ****ing FTs. Make no mistake, the final margin does not tell the story because if we make a decent pct of our FTs we have the lead late instead of having to foul. I posted it after the last game, we will not go far in March shooting FTs that way. 10/18 and missing front-ends in a game like this? Not gonna get it.

- Speaking of ironies, we missed Hicks more on the defensive end tonight. Having to guard and help away from the basket is still a challenge for Tony, and Isiah's athleticism would have helped a lot.

- Amazingly, they out-rebounded us by 1. They did make a concerted effort to send five to the defensive glass, plus we were small a lot.

- other than the self-inflicted stuff, dook can only beat us one way --- by making 3s, and we still have guys leaving their shooters . So what if they get an occasional drive? That ain't gonna beat us.

- I was disappointed we were too passive pushing tempo in the first half. We attacked more in the second half and took it to the rack. We were also more active on defense. But again, when we actually got calls from attacking the rim we couldn't cash in.

- Big props to Luke and Nate for their offensive contributions and confident play. And they couldn't do anything with Tony when he got the ball inside. On the other hand, Kenny (who looked like he had his mojo back last game) was inert on offense. He has got to look for some offense in addition to the other things he brings.

Finally, yeah, my tone is pretty negative because I can't stand to lose to these jack-asses. On the other hand, objectively we are just better than they are... even with one of our main cogs out. And Theo is back... so while that's a positive thought for the rest of the season, I'm still furious that we let one slip away the way this one did. I mean, let's be honest --- it ain't very often in this series we get enough opportunity at the damned foul line to even make a difference... can't leave those on the floor. #$%^&"

That quote was too good, I think Heelicious might be in denial that he hates himself and Carolina. This is what he meant:

Dude has serious emotional / mental issues. Wouldn't go near him with a 10 foot pole if I was anybody anywhere ever. I don't have any issues with any of the other posters beyond Crylicious. I guess Heelicious fillst the quota for 3-4 other punks that normally post stupid sh** in other years....

But their fans in the dump (and generally any pretentious Dbag Hole fans you meet anywhere). Just pathetic losers. The whole schtick is old.... and you are crying and whining and acting pathetic enough without trying to go out of your way to look like some sort of social project reject. Love the concept of fat 30 somethings completely breaking down on a message board after a loss. I guess I find it funny how unaware, tone deaf, oblivious they are to what a laughing stock they are outside of their own little pretend “school” and Walmart Fan lapdogs. There was one line on ESPN's page about Roy being pissed at one point, and talking to security about some fans doing or saying something to him or his team. Shocker, I know, remember that time Roy kicked out some Presbyterian fans for yelling “Hey Deon, don’t miss it”. It would be funny if something arose against Carolina via fans, and Carolina had a real coach of intelligence, and he continued to coach the game like a normal coach, not some dope.

Ha ha - funny stuff I know - Roy and intelligence - I crack myself up."

Heelicious seems salty as hell that all sports venues, aren't a clone of the Smith Center. Poor guy is used to an environment where all minions wear the matching khakis and sweater vests, season ticket holders receive complementary yarn spools and crochet hooks at the door, and anything louder than a golf clap is frowned upon. No wonder every time they show recruits taking in a game at the Smith Center on television, they look bored as hell. Funny as hell he suggests Coach forfeit a game, for fans rooting on their school/team. Dude needs to forfeit his nut sack!

"Complimentary yarn spools and crochet hooks" literally made me not totally laugh, but at least spontaneously chuckle out loud, that my 5 year old daughter just asked me what was so funny and had to come look at the iPad screen just to see if there was something funny on it. Haaaa.

What is it now, haven't the Holes LOST 12 of the last 16 to DUKE now? Ha haa, it is killing them. And all they have is to say things like " but we know we are really the better team!" Waaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!

I was gonna post this. It is tard gary's "stats and stuff" crap. Mr. Intelligent. Lol. Yes, gar, you usually get screwed by the refs, we know. He brings up Amile grabbing fatsos jersey as if that never happens and even then it was way before fatty even went up with the ball, he just plain blew it. Love ya though, gar!

There were times in the first half that Maye out played Tatum by a wide margin, now the second half was a different story.
