I think the UNX teams from the 1990s through 2011 were chock full of ineligible players.
Let's get back to posting THR quotes. Got some good ones on the thread OAD flops. One guy posted Marvin Williams, clearly didn't go over well. Not that I agree or disagree on calling him a flop but here was one of the responses by TPFK:

They pretty much listed anyone and everyone who was OAD that isn't an NBA all star. Even some that were all stars.
Gotcha. I'd say Marvin has been a solid role player for years. Not necessarily a bust. Maybe not the star some thought he would be when he was drafted.

Fine, criticize me for it, but if you're going to get worked up about it that's your deal not mine. I didn't trash any posters on this board. And Carolina sucked that year. You beat us handily both times. So what? The 2010 team was not one of the more spectacular Duke teams. It played great as a cohesive unit and was exceptionally deep, which is what K does best. But out of all the duke championship teams, it was the least impressive. Just my opinion.

Stop caring whether or not you are criticized or bashed by them. They are Duke fans. Half of them are going to criticize and bash you regardless for being a UNC fan. Very rarely will you get a decent discussion going on. A few will with ya, but not many.
Look at prior in the thread when I talked about Jackson this season vs Tatum. Hell, I thought I was literally going to be banned (I was on RR for a similar discussion) because I said I thought Tatum would be an all around better player but Jackson have the higher ceiling. Right now as this season is going, it looks fairly accurate, yet the idea and notion of it was like throwing boiling water on a baby or something here.
Gotta realize, the Duke board is not full of your friends. And, while you probably come here to just discuss hoops with hoops fans like I do, that in many cases any conversation or idea you have will be trashed just because you are not a Duke fan.

I didn't understand that thread so I mostly avoided it. To me, a OAD bust is someone who failed to become a OAD or good enough to be a OAD but chose to return.
Like, Greg Oden is not a OAD bust to me. He is a NBA bust (due to injuries) but not a OAD bust. He was supposed to come in, get drafted high, and he did.
I hear ya, Jericho. You're right of course. I like to think of myself as a defender of rationality, regardless of fan association. I have friends who root for duke, and we get along just fine without getting angry at each other. But real life is much different than a message board of course.
I think they're referring to people who went to the NBA after a year in college and didn't live up to the hype. Being a college bust is a whole different story.

2010 was an EXTREMELY SPECIAL GROUP w/3 seniors who worked hard and came together w/others to form a WINNER. There was NO SUPERSTAR, but a group of guys who all bought in to Coach K's philosophy to blossom beautifully at the end of the season. We're very proud of those guys- several developed to the point they make contributions on NBA clubs, plus we're extremely proud of two who are assistants on our mens team. Zoubek was laughed upon by other opposing fans at first, but wow did he develop!!
We're proud of that group. Its exceedingly special. Sorry for your sake we couldnt have blown Butler out to make things more convincing (like we did in our pasting of you guys by 32), but it wasnt tainted by a misthrown pass to the other team or one too many timeouts called. The banner is in no danger of coming down either...

Uh yeah. Because you can't play it both ways. If I had come over here trashing duke, my stay wouldn't have lasted very long. I hold no love for your team, and I say as much on my board, but it doesn't mean it's not possible to hold a civil conversation with opposing fans about CBB.
