Duke vs Clemson 7 PM

Played a good first half. Not great. We'll never have a legitimate chance to beat the greats with our receivers. If it weren't for our QB being tough as nails, we'd be talking about what a terrible job the o line is doing. It is what it is, hopefully we can address this with our future recruits.

Crap. Just what we didn'the need to happen. Humphrey gets hurt and Clemson goes in on the next play. Is it too early to pull Jones? He 's been taking some shots this half. Don't want to just give up but the Clemson D is going to be coming at full blast. OFC

just too much depth on that clemson roster. duke played hard but really had to play a perfect game to win. to many self inflicted wounds against a team like them. why dont we play bobo more? at least he catches the ball.

During the recent era of CFB, too much is made of this team or that team being "better" than everybody else. Until this year, and Bama's relative domination, most of the recent powers have won games through the genius strategy of "arbitration." By that, I mean that the winning team simply throws too many talented bodies at the opposition. Even though the losing team's starters are relatively close in talent/ability to the those of the winning team, the losing team cannot employ as much depth. In a game like FB, a team can win by simply grinding down their opponent with more talented players, and more players who are talented, than the loser.
.
It is why Bama has been so great, despite their QBs and RBs being relatively lackluster in the pros. Depth. Especially along the offensive and defensive lines. Bama's starters are a little more talented than their opponents. But bama's backup linemen are nearly as good as their starters, and the third teamers are typically incredibly talented players in their own right who are simply younger, less experienced, and less developed than their older peers. It isn't Bama's starters that kill you. It is the backups, and the fact that there is essentially no drop off.
.
Today, we played the first great CFB that Duke has faced in years, possibly back to the height of the Bowdon years in a round robin ACC schedule.
.
And we did fine. The staff can show recruits a game program that isn't a pushover for anyone. Potential recruits see a decent team, and probably a role for themselves.
.
Watching Clemson's DL is what opposing BB teams see when Duke's frosh wings start rolling.

You know what makes it worse? For the first time this season, and since I don't know when, we lost and UNx and won. I seriously can't remember when the last time that happened was.

True but a meaningless bit of trivia when opponents are considered. No credit for beating a lower division opponent lol

We dropped far too many of DJ's throws. Had we caught more in the first half especially we could have been up at half....OFC

Yeah, but they dropped a few passes as well, and if they'd made those catches, we could have been down big at the half as well.
