Just heard this - revolving around the 1 game suspension from last week. Sucks for Louisville and the ACC....

I'm not going to pretend to know why the kid was booted, but when I heard he was being brought back to the game just in time for a crucial game following a loss it reeked of despiration. Now that they used him for that one game and then let him go, it reeks even more. Seems like they used the kid to stop the bleeding and then dropped him.

Was about to post the same thread cause of how crazy it is to have another fellow Hall of Fame ACC coach who I'm pretty certain rarely, if ever, dismisses players; dismiss a similarly important piece to his team....only weeks after K dismissed Sheed.

Wonder if K kinda doin that made this easy or more acceptable for Pitino to do.

He was even harsher in his comments, stating, "He's finished, there will be no comment."

Wonder if it was a similar situation to Sheed. Guess we'll all know one day.

Going off a thread at THR about it apparently there was a rumor that was posted in the comments below the story on espn.com that is supposedly the reason he was dismissed and from the sounds of it, the reason that Jones was dismissed from Louisville is a lot worse than the reason that Sheed was dismissed from Duke.

The first thing I thought of is that Louisville won't beat UVA now. I had been looking for that as a possible loss for UVA, and now, well, no. I only think in terms of what helps Duke. Both for the ACC title and #1 seed.

UVA will lose at Cuse or Lville, been playing low scoring tight games for few weeks. Will catch up to them at one point.

It is but Pitino is great at rallying the troops.
True. Isn't their backup a freshman? Anyone know how good he is? My memory gets fuzzy and I don't believe I have seen him play. I hate that Chris Jones screwed this up. I always liked that kid's game, not his attitude, but he was a baller.

All this means is they will put UL in UK's region again for the 3rd time in 4 years and IF they can make it that far UK will have a easy win against them w/o Jones.

It will be interesting how UL gets seeded, but I think, at this point, they look to be a pretty easy out in the NCAAs for anyone (relative to the seed they actually get). Although, IMO, UL didn't have enough shooting to seriously compete for a title even with Jones, losing Jones is crushing b/c it takes away one of the two guys on their squad who can randomly heat up on the perimeter and make UL dangerous to an elite team an a one-off basis. UL had a pretty outstanding three-year run prior to this year, but I'd be moderately surprised if they can even get passed the first weekend -- and, depending on the matchup, wouldn't be surprised if they go out in round of 64. This team just can't score if you force them to play in the half-court.

Frankly, if Rick Pitino wasn't the coach, I think this team would be struggling to even get into the NCAAs. IMO, they basically have FSU talent with HOF coaching.
