Caught Bilas radio sgment yesterday, what a funny guy. Was thinking we could compile his funniest lines of the season.

1. Duke is warming up for ACCT in the hallway, Bilas notes "warmups sure are different today" so Shulman asks Jay what he did to warm up. Bilas replies "cup of coffee and a cigarette". That floored me.

2. Greenburg interviews Coach K and asks a question about defense. K gives a generic asnswer and Greenburg turns it back to Bilas. Bilas notes "Seth, Coach K didn't want to get into details b/c he knew you wouldn't understand it".

Any more?

I dont have my own, but I remember hearing the one about Greenburg and thought that was hilarious as well. The two seem to get after each other a lot (Greenburg and Bilas) to the point some of it almost sounds genuine and not just like playful banter. Maybe Im reading too much into it.

Just this week , Bilas told Paul Finebaum that the unx scandal was cooked up on the academic side. He also said that the NCAA wouldn't punish the holes. He said coaches can't be held responsible for such things. I thought those comments ranked with some of his funniest.

No, for an educated man from Duke, those were stupid. OFC

Side note, why do people type unx instead of UNC?

The "x" key is next to the "c" key. The conceit is it's not worth re-typing to correct the mistake. And Bilas allows his disdain for the NCAA to cloud his judgement. Plus John Skipper signs his paycheck. I recall when Roy denied McCants' allegations and said he didn't know. I wish I had the footage. Bilas said he believed Roy. The look on Jay's face when he said It told a different story. No way he bought it.

I think this is a portion of the interview but not all of it.

Bilas is very good....but he's not my favorite. Something has happened over the course of the last few years that just seems to make him angry. I can't tell you how many times I heard him getting on a soapbox when listening to games this past season....it's not the place to do it. Do it on Gameday or on the set, but not when you're calling a game.

I agree that Jay B has gotten preachy over the last year and a half, but he is still my favorite. I think Battier isn't quite ready for live action and Grant Hill is kind of bland. I think Jay Will is coming on after starting out green. The G man has always been steady. If Collins burns out at NW, maybe he will give it a go. He seems to be a natural in front of a camera.

I agree. He seems to pick moments in games where he will suddenly start ranting and raving. And I agree that has a place, and that place is the studio.

I have to agree DJ- just gets a bit much. I love jay in studio and for the most part have always liked him during games, but when he goes on his tirades about the officials it's just one of those, 'Ok Jay we get it, let's move on.'

Laettner, I can't think of any more right off the bat, but those were two good ones! #2 on Greenberg was an absolute "classic" and I remember hearing Jay Williams in the background, laughing as hard as I was!!
