Sky's certainly not falling in my world but this one hurts, not the L as much as the effort and execution. Penetration kills us plain and simple. I've begun to strongly dislike Brey and the Irish..... Right or wrong. Credit to them tho, no denying they deserved it.

I've felt for a while this team needed this trophy for the tourney.

Hoping K has another coaching wonder in his sleeve, we need it!!!!!

What has Brey done other than outsmart Duke's coaching staff tonight? Yes they deserve the win, and Duke deserves to go home whether we long time fans like it or not. Totally were not ready for the game tonight, tried to match NCSU's performance last night. Been a fan for a long, long time and I am not sure but this may be the most disappointed I have ever been in a game. OFC

It's the first loss we've had in over six weeks. It sucks because I wanted to win this tournament too, but it is what it is.

And to be honest I liked our fight. Quinn and Tyus combined to shoot 6-25 and Jah was 2-8 at the line. Yet, we had a chance. Moral victories are lame....I know that. But two of our three best players really struggled, and our best one is a bit of a liability down the stretch.

I guess the real season starts next Friday.

The State game was fools gold and I told my wife that last night, our stars sitting out and watching other make plays seemed great.... The rest we always talk about, fact is it took our rocks out of Rhythm. It's hard to find a positive from tonight

Yep, and I still believe that these boys are fighters and competitors. They know what they don't want to feel in a tournament after tonight. Let's do this!!!

Who was that last loss to ?

The fact that we showed that that don't play hard gene was still sitting dormant in us, and wasn't totally gone after all our stellar play over the last 12 wins is the thing that's making this a physically painful loss to me.

What that means is that the chance for an early exit is still alive and well, and I'd so desperately hoped it was simply gone. It came back in the ACC Tournament, at a time when we and everyone so needed Duke to bring back another Title, and every damn one of us felt it, yet at the most crucial moment of the season, out of freakin nowhere the don't try hard team reappeared... It resurfaced when it just didn't seem possible for it to.

This absolutely means that an early exit in the Big Dance is back in play, when we all thought it was dead.

I cannot shake what I just witnessed in that first half. Will we ever not choke in the tournaments again? If this amazingly well rounded team full of all winners and never say diers can not try hard then anyone can. Just awful

Has anyone maybe think fatigue set in tonight. It seemed we never had our legs underneath us. Let's be honest, out starting five has played a lot of minutes this year. Q and Tyus seemed very tired, don't they both average over 35min/game. Let's back to campus and rest up and start preparing mentally. The only thing that worries me is Jah inability to make FT.

I thought I heard that Cook had the flu and they were giving him fluids as much as possible. But no player played more than 28 minutes outside of Tyus Jones so I don't think fatigue was a factor. I think they felt like they could walk in and just win. Sometimes you need a reality check.

I'm not talking about just tonight but throughout the year. Our passes looked lazy. We got beat to every loose ball in the first half. I'm not trying to make excuses, but just what I see. When I played D2, I averaged 35min/game for 34 games. It takes it toll on you.

There wasn't a starter that played fewer than 28 min. M Jones played 28, everyone else played at least 30. Tyus played all 40 and Q played 39.

No energy to start the game. Some bad calls off shooting night and yet they still had a chance to win tonight. I don't think it is the end of the world. Only downer is they probably lost the one seed if Arizona or Wisconsin wins out.

brey certanly deserves some credit, but not that much. we self destructed in this one.

i hate to blame refs but i have to say, the calls on both sides were astonishing. in the end i don't think neither team knew what legal guarding position was.

i mean the choices we made were - in my opinion - not smart, but its what can happen with a freshman led team. even from the 5 min mark in we made some bad choices.

- tyus turns the ball over after a matt jones created turnover on defense.
- with ND's big guy fouling out and Okafor on the floor, Matt Jones tries another 3....
- no dribble driving late
- the killer imo was Okafor fouling their 3 point shooter after he missed. WOW.

in analysis, the mismatch for us was them playing Okafor 1:1. as long as they were doing that we should have kept the ball going right at him.

overall we rallied in the second half, and that was a positive. don't know where that leaves us. we had a great season - but haven't really accomplished anything.

All losses are bad losses. And besides that, we didn't lose to the local YMCA! We lost to a very good, veteran BB team that we had beaten by 30 not too long ago. They came out and shot 50% from the field, 22-25 from the FT line and wanted to redeem themselves.
They gave Okafor his points and shut everyone else down, end of story.
We just came off of a 12 game winning streak, and right now, I will take a 6 game winning streak!! Don't think for one second that this team is not capable of doing it.
No matter how the next week(s) turns out, please don't look for excuses and faults, just consider yourselves lucky to have had such a great season, with a group of kids that represented your school the best that they could!! I have really enjoyed this year and absolutely do not want to see it end. This has been a Duke team that I will always remember!!
Go Duke!!

When I see long time posters come across dejected it's a bad loss.

The theme is the same for many long time posters as well. Differing levels of disgust but disgust at every loss. What that says to me is that losing sucks. It doesn't matter how long you have been a fan. None of us like it at all.

Last night was tough. Duke played awful for a large chunk of the game.I am not ready to panic yet though as ND has been a top 10 team for most of the year and as bad as Duke played, they had a chance late if a couple plays go differently. Like has been mentioned, Duke has not lost if 6 weeks against really solid competition. They got beat last night by a good, veteran team. Good on ND.

The loss sucks because no one expected it. Everyone thought after Thursday night that this team was peaking. Welcome back to reality. In reality, this team is still 50% freshmen. This isn't Scheyer-Thomas-Zoubek-Smith-Singler who had been through the grind before and knew what it would take. Unfortunately, when dealing with freshmen, they have to learn the hard way. They honestly thought that after the NC State game, Notre Dame would be too scared to play them. Now they know that this is NEVER the case in college basketball. Hopefully, they've finally learned their lesson.

I hope so. Because the learning part of the season is now over. Now, you cannot learn from a loss, you just go home. I think if we play like we did against State this team has a chance to put together 6 straight wins. I believe that we can do it.

And they don't even have to play THAT well (like they did against State) to win 6 straight. They just won 12 straight against a tough schedule and won 15 of their last 16 regular season games. If it weren't for that lucky shot by Grant in South Bend it's possible Duke could have finished the regular season winning 16 in a row.
