For those of you who subscribe to The Athletic, there is an in-depth story today about Coach K’s retirement decision—apparently finalized during an April trip to Vegas w/Mrs. K, and announced then to family, staff and the Duke administrators. Scheyer appears to have been Coach K’s succession choice from the outset but there was a genuine process that played out over the next 6 weeks, which included Tommy Amaker, and Scheyer did not know he was the successor until shortly before the story broke.
