Are (any) ACC fans worried Clemson & F-State will also bolt to the $EC

I hope not. I really don't see it happening. NCSU couldn't compete and Clemson basically owns ACC football. OFC
Not so fast my friend. Norvell has a stacked recruiting class ranked 3 in nation Seminole uprising

I messed up bud. I thought I saw NCSU. I'm an old fart you know. I will edit and correct. You are absolutely correct. Still hope it doesn't happen. OFC

It’s all about money and there will be so much in the SEC that Clemson and FSU will end up there eventually. Once that happens several more ACC teams (Notre Dame, UNC, Pittsburgh?) will end up in the Big 10. Not sure what happens to the rest. Would hate to see this happen but I think the writings on the wall.

I'm not worried. If they want to leave, let them. I hope that they don't, but if your girlfriend, or team, or pet isn't happy, it's not worth it to force them to stay

I don’t think you’re line of thinking is off base.

I have been watching the FSU site, I can't read it anymore, but I can see the titles of their posts. I think they are looking at the SEC pretty closely. They have always been concerned about the difference in money that the SEC brings in vs the ACC. I have also been looking at how the schools could get out of the GOR and from some of the stuff that I have read, if CU and FSU went to the SEC, ESPN might scrap that contract with the ACC. The acc should have been doing more to promote football over the years than bringing in more BB schools. I can't see that BC, Pitt, and Syr have added anything to the ACC. ND is a pipe dream for the ACC. FB brings in the money that drives the bus. WE need to have FSU and Clemson stay and have FSU and Miami to bring their football programs back to were they once were. Wish I could say the same for Duke, but I cant see it happening. I dont care to see the Tarholes get better, looks like they might. NC St. has no excuse to not have a good program every year. No academic hardships to speak of and has a good fan base. I would like to see a competitive ACC in football every year. The SEC will soon own college FB more than they already have for some years.

They’ve always secretly dreamed of being in the same conference as the Kentucky Wildcats. This has always been their end game
That would be a perfect rivalry. Their fans are one in the same. Both fan bases have the same reponses when they miss out on a big time recruit by saying "we didn't want him anyway." They both claim Duke as their only rivary. Both claim to have the greatest basketball program ever. Both have trolls that lurk this board constantly. When they play both teams could switch uniforms at halftime and no one would notice. Both have had their programs on probation. OFC

The current GOR runs through 2036. The ACC has an exit fee of something like 52M, but if I understand it correctly, any team leaving would not only have to pay the 52M, but would also forfeit their TV rights through 2036. I don't see any team agreeing to that unless they can somehow find a loophole to get out of the contract

We may be witnessing the slow destruction of college conferences and college sports. IF, and thats still an if, schools are allowed to pick and choose their conference then there will be no conferences...just groups of random schools playing each other under 3-5 yr agreements. Add in the effects of NIL which is yet to be seen, but i think will be detrimental to all college sports, and the NCAA as we know it crumbles. I hope I'm wrong as college sports are my passion vs professional sports....especially in basketball and football...their demise would be very sad. The almighty dollar can be a deadly and destructive force

But their fan bases are forgetting One key point Kansas was an unstoppable force in the 1920s

I don't see a scenario where there is no college sports. There is just too much money to be made, but it may look very different from what we are used to, and that really is sad.

One article that I read said that if CU and FSU left , then ESPN would likely cancel the contract. I guess that would be a way out. Also, if I read correctly, the GOR only applies to home games. So, With all the extra money, and it is a helluva lot, that the SEC pays, FSU and CU would probably come out ahead-bigtime. Hopefully , I remembered this right. I do know that FSU has never been happy with the TV contract with the ACC ,compared to other conferences. They also are highly suspicious of the deal because of Swofford's son having to do with the TV deal. Swofford should have never been commish because of his UNC connection and his son should have had nothing to do with the TV contract. I do agree with them on that.

Not sure that I can . HE was involved with the ACC tv contract somehow. It should be easy to find, it has been a while since all of this came about. Like a lot of folks on this site, i will always believe that he had a hand in getting the Heels out of the cheating scandal. Him and 18m in legal fees.

Yup. Still trying to wrap my mind about them getting off Scott free. In the 80s SMU got the death penalty Florida couldn’t be on tv a couple of years. Miami was hit pretty hard in the 90s. The heels. Nothing.

This is another reason why FSU was pissed at the NCAA. Somewhere back in time, some of their players got caught for taking an online music course, or something like that. They had to forfeit games and had player sit out a bowl game. Then the Tarholes get caught for 18 years of running a whole dept. to keep athletes eligible to play sports. As the whistle blower said, i have athletes reading on the 3d grade level. Then they get nothing.

I like the idea of Duke joining the Big East, if the football powers bolt for the SEC. The Big East could take the 4 Carolina schools.

I wouldn't worry about Duke. The Big or SEC is going to want a NC/Duke package. It gives the conference the state of North Carolina, gives the conference two national brands in basketball, and makes which ever conference they head to the premiere basketball conference in the country. Honestly I believe the SEC will come knocking.

If Clemson / FSU, or Duke / unc or any other combination of schools go to the SEC, will it mean "even more?" That's one of the most moronic things I've heard! So self proclaiming!!!

I see the Big 10 as being a landing spot maybe the Big East. The Sec fans don’t give a rats a- about basketball. The only month they talk about bball on the finedumb show is March and that’s just bc signing day is over and spring practice is a month away. They don’t want Duke in football and Carolina is good now but for how long. I think the Big might be tempted to take Duke Carolina and Virginia but don’t really want the other schools that may have to be dragged along. I’m looking at you Wake and Va tech

They’d probably take Clemson and FSU if they can get the votes. Dukes a terrible fit for the Sec imho Vandy Texas and Uf and Uga are great to very good univ in that order but the majority of the SEC makes me long for the Big 10 The Big East has Georgetown but a bunch of overrated Catholic schools whose best days may be behind them I’m afraid. Other than the Ivy League and a select few private schools (Stanford Duke ND Vandy) no one is willing to pay the private tuition anymore

The fans have nothing to do with the decision makers. The SEC can be the premier conference in football, basketball, and baseball by adding Duke/NC. They also tap the North Carolina market. Either way, one of those conferences will come calling.

It’s not just the “fans “. It’s the entire culture

To clarify an earlier post I’m not referring to southern culture at large but the football first culture that permeates the SEC except Kentucky.

Again, it has nothing to do with it. Getting these schools gives the SEC the Charlotte area, one of the largest cities in the Southeast and major dollars. These two schools would also be a major power play by the SEC. I can absolutely see Clemson, FSU, NC, and Duke getting an invite. Virginia and Georgia Tech a possibility too.

All but Clemson which would seriously water e down the only thing they care about: football we heard that nonsense about markets with bc and Syracuse. Anyone in nc that cares about football already watches the sec games

SMH.....do some research on why realignment is going on and ask yourself why the BIG wanted Maryland and Rutgers. Do you think they added those teams to boost the football conference in the BIG? Lol......

Why they added those two to the Big and whether it’s been successful or not is more where I’m coming from

If Duke has to move, please let it be to the Big 10 or SEC. Payout for the Big East would be far less than what it is now. It really is too bad that the ACC has always pandered to BB and has let FB be a stepchild, except for CU FSU and Miami , back in time. I would like to see the ACC stay the same with football encouraged more, whatever that means. When the ACC expanded, they should never have taken BC and SYr. Pitt at least tries to have a decent FB program from time to time. WVa would have been better , too bad Penn st. was not interested. Those two would have helped the ACC>

UNC doesn't want to go to the SEC. The people in charge care way too much about the Olympic sports, Plus the culture fit is better in the Big 10. And the interest is mutual if you want to believe old rumors. UNC and UVA were the schools they wanted instead of Rutgers and Maryland.
