ACC Tournament Seeding possibilities

I usually post this with one weekend to go, but it is so convoluted this season just post outcomes here and I will try and answer them.

Duke loses, regardless what happens elsewhere, Duke is the 4. Any scenario where FSU wins, they are the 1
Duke loses, UL beats UVA, FSU wins 1. FSU, 2. Louisville 3. UVA 4. Duke
Duke loses, UL beats UVA, FSU loses 1. UL, 2. FSU 3. UVA 4. Duke
Duke loses, UVA beats Louisville, FSU wins 1. FSU 2. UVA 3. Louisville 4. Duke
Duke loses, UVA beats Louisville, FSU loses 1. FSU 2. UVA 3. Louisville 4. Duke
Duke wins, UL beats UVA, FSU wins 1. FSU, 2. Louisville 3. Duke 4. UVA
Duke wins, UL beats UVA, FSU loses 1. UL, 2. Duke 3. FSU 4. UVA
Duke wins, UVA beats Louisville, FSU wins 1. FSU 2. UVA 3. Louisville 4. Duke
Duke wins, UVA beats Louisville, FSU loses 1. FSU 2. UVA 3. Louisville 4. Duke

Honestly, the 4 seed may be best (with no loss to the holes, of course)
 
Duke wins, FSU wins, UVA wins, Louisville loses. All 4 teams would be 15-5. What seed would Duke be? The 3 seed or the 4 seed?
 
That's what losing to NCSU and Wake has put us in the probably the #4 seed. Two teams we had no business losing to. We win those games we are the # 1 seed. Regardless we have to win three games anyway. I really think we are the best team in the ACC. If our team feels that way we it are gonna win the thing. OFC

If three or more teams are tied, you compare the record of each team against the others. In this scenario where all 4 are 15-5, FSU (swept Louisville, split with UVA, lost to Duke) and UVA (split with FSU and Louisville and beat Duke) are 3-2 against each other, Louisville (split with UVA, lost to swept by FSU, beat Duke) is 2-3 and Duke (lost to uva and Louisville, beat FSU) is 1-2. The tiebreaker is winning percentage. So Louisville 3 and Duke 4. But you got FSU and UVA tied? Start back at two teams tied with those two. Split season series. Next tiebreaker, record against opponent from top to bottom in conference. FSU swept UL, UVA 1-1. So:
1. Fsu 2. Uva 3. UL 4. Duke
 
I just realized that I was wrong in one of my earlier posts. In order for there to be a 4 way tie for first in the ACC, both FSU and Louisville will have to lose and we and UVA will have to win and all 4 teams will end up at 15-5 in the ACC. Right now the only guarantee is that either Louisville will end up at 16-4 if they win and UVA will end up at 14-6 or if UVA wins then they’ll both end up at 15-5 in the ACC.

I should’ve known that. I blame it on the fact that I haven’t been getting much sleep lately. I even missed the second half of our game against UVA because I fell asleep at halftime because I had a sinus headache and was so tired. lol

it’s all good. I was just getting a kick out of the “if UVA wins and UL loses...” I understand the tired. And to boot, i have not seen more than a few minutes of any Duke game...

My question is assuming we beat unc tommorow. How does the conference tourny align for us to play them again?

If we beat them tomorrow it will put them at 6-14 which would most likely make them the 14 seed. Depending on what see we get I think we’d potentially play them in the quarterfinals if they make it to that far or the finals if we both were to make it to the finals.

Are you talking about #14 seed in the NCAA or ACC? I'm serious. You know heel nation has friends in not only the NCAA but the selection committee also. Heard on talk radion they should get a bid simply because they are carolina and a " brand name " school no matter what they do in the ACC tourney. Duke's Kevin White however is chairman of the NCAA selection committee so that might help but rumor is that a petition signed by 500 milion tar heel fans has already arrived to the committee which was started by the law firm that unc hired to getbthem out of the academic scandal. ;) OFC

Was talking about 14 seed in the ACC Tournament because the only way UNC is going to get into the NCAA Tournament is if they win the ACC Tournament and I just don’t see that happening.
 
If Duke beats UNC and Miami wins, we have 3 tied at the bottom. So Wake 12, Pitt 13, UNC 14.

If UNC and Miami loses, we have a 4 way tie for last. 11. Pitt 12. Mia 13. Wake 14. UNC

big ups to Pittsburgh, who made a lot of this possible by sweeping the cheats
 
To you guys who really study these brackets, is there some scenario where Duke plays itself? Asking for a friend. ;)

yes, ND is the 7.
