ACC scoring leaders this season

I've said it before, but the conference this season is loaded. The team that finishes in 4th, maybe even 5th could still be a final four contender.

For sure. I'd even say that's been the last few years. Despite our shortcomings, we were a Final Four contender two years ago as the fifth place team, and I would say UNC was also a contender last year and they finished sixth.

Rarely are there easy nights in the ACC....and I'd venture to guess that applies even more so this season. Any team that wins 11 or 12 games in the ACC this season is awfully good.

Yep. Torin Dorn is still there. And watch out for NC State. I honestly think they have one of the better backcourts in the country. They return 3 starters + 6 eligible transfers. They will be dangerous. Take a peak...

You seem to have a good handle on the entire conference. What do you expect from Devon Daniels this year? I read that one writer suggested that he may even lead the team in scoring.

I fully expect him to start. My guess is that CJ Bryce and Torin Dorn will be the go-to-guys around 15-16 ppg. But I expect Daniels to be a solid #3 scoring option, maybe around 13 ppg.

I don’t know man. Maye may be goofy and all of that, but the kid has enough skill to ward off high profile recruits and have Roy entrust him with his program. Remember he was a 4 star recruit by some services. He chose to go to UNC off scholarship.

Twenty per game is tough due to balance and pace. Since 2009-2010 only 9 men have scored 20 a game (Nolan Smith, Terrell Stoglin, Cat Barber, Erick Green, Marvin Bagley, Jerome Robinson, Luke Kennard, TJ Warren, and Grayson Allen). That’s 9 guys in 8 years. It’s a tough road to hoe.

This season, certain teams are going to need guys to score and score a bunch. Every team has to have a score leader, here’s who seems to fit that mold

BC - Ky Bowman
Clemson - Shelton Mitchell
Duke - Barrett, Williamson, or Reddish
FSU - M.J. Walker or Mann
Georgia Tech - Alvarado
Louisville - King, Cunningham or Perry
UNC - Maye
NC St - Bryce or Dorn
ND - Gibbs or Pflueger
Miami - Johnson, Huell, or Lykes
Pitt - Terrell Brown
Syracuse - Battle
UVA - Guy or Hunter
VT - Robinson or Alexander- Walker
Wake - Sarr or Childress

Of those guys Bowman, Battle, one of that Duke trio, Brown, Maye or Mitchell all have the best chance to hit 20 due to pace and/or need.

Regardless, the ACC is a super tough conference which should get 7-9 in the tourney barring injuries.

Sarr? Really? I see him finishing 4th. Behind Brown, Hoard, and Childress.

I could be wrong. With Manning as coach, and a team devoid of 3pt shooters and a guy similar in skill set to Collins, I could see Sarr being one of Wake’s leading guys. I’ve been wrong before so it’s all good.

Curious. I saw what Collins did and what Doral Moore did last year. Manning does have a reputation of developing the bigs. But I was under the impression that Sar was a defensive specialist. But I could be wrong!

Manning was a premier scorer as a big in college. He can groom some low post talent for sure.

Sarr won’t be stepping out hitting threes much, but with his rebounding ability, athleticism and touch around the basket, he can be in the low teens in terms of scoring. His FG% was pretty bad last season per 40, so addressing his strength was a big ask this summer.

Man, I hope you are right. I got stuck with Sarr for our first center in our ACC fantasy league. All of the good centers were gone when it was my turn.

Thanks!
Here is our starting lineup:
Ky Bowman
Shelton Mitchell
Jaylen Hoard
VJ King
Sarr

Backups are:
Jordan Chatman
DJ Harvey
Malik Williams

Hoping to compete!

I’d get Harvey in there quick. He’s going to have a Tyus Battle type of season. The guy is a baller.

Harvey over VJ King or Hoard? That's a tough call. I plan to rotate them depending on how many games they play per week(Monday thru Sunday).
I hope that Harvey can stay healthy.
The only unknown in this bunch is Hoard.

That’s who i was thinking in place of. And you’re right, Harvey’s health is a question mark. His production potential is unlimited though.

Jaylen Hoard had a great start. 19 pts, 13 boards, 3 assists, and only 1 turnover. I know it is only one game, but I think he can have a better year than Nas Little.

I’d hate that. I want Little gone ASAP. He’s going to be a monster this year or in the future.

Something tells me little's have a tough time with the crazies this year. Hope they welcome him with open arms. Looks like we have another glare and stare down heel again this year.OFC

Thinking about dropping Harvey and picking up White.

That wouldn’t be a terrible move. Not sure he’ll be consistently great, but the kid came in with a heavy reputation as a scorer. Much like JamesOn Curry. Not a bad move at all until Harvey gets his feet under him.

Hof Coach Roy Williams will put a harness on white. No way will he allow white to lead the ACC in scoring. He could be a lottery pick and how coach Roy Williams is not going to let that happen. OFC
