Town Hall with Coach K

Coach's mind is sharp and his game philosophies keep changing with the times. The man just gets it. He understands what really motivates people. His example of leadership contrasts everything going on 8 miles away, so much so that he doesn't have to comment on them at all. Chapel Hill just looks bad in comparison. He's always just focused on what Duke does, not worrying about being better than someone else.

Also, cool that he only made $40,000 (a great salary in early 80's) his first season at Duke.

Just like his getting a chance at a 4th season, that's a sign of how times have changed. There has been inflation, of course, but I imagine whatever young, inexperienced coaches are making at high major programs now is way more than the 1980 equivalent.

That's so true, and K mentioned it. The money in college sports has changed the game tremendously.
